The series is based on Ewan McGregor’s Character Obi-Wan Kenobi from the prequel Star Wars film series. It will arrive in 2022 on Disney+

Upcoming Disney Plus series Obi-Wan Kenobi from the Star Wars universe has officially wrapped up filming today (September 4) in Los Angeles, California. The filming on the limited six-episode series began on 10th May at the same location.


Assistant director Jacquie Gould confirmed the production wrap via her social media accounts (Instagram link). The series took a total of around 80 days to complete the production on all six episodes. The series will premiere on Disney Plus in 2022.


The news of production wrap was also in the air last month when a few of the cast members wrapped up their part. Indira Verma who is reported to appear in only one episode wrapped up her part on August 9, after which she posted a farewell message on her Instagram account.

 

The plot of the Obi-Wan Kenobi series has been still kept under the wraps besides that It begins with Obi-Wan Kenobi who survived Order 66 is watching over Luke Skywalker on Tatooine, ten years after the events of Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith (2005), and takes the character on a "rollicking adventure." It will also feature Darth Vader, Obi-Wan's former Jedi Padawan, and partner Anakin Skywalker, who fell to the Dark Side and became a Sith Lord.


The series also has a massive and diverse star cast, which includes Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan Kenobi; Hayden Christensen as Darth Vader; Joel Edgerton as Owen Lars; Bonnie Piesse as Beru Lars. The cast also includes Moses Ingram, Kumail Nanjiani, Rupert Friend, Sung Kang, Indira Varma, Simone Kessell, Benny Safdie, O'Shea Jackson Jr., and Maya Erskine.


Deborah Chow has directed all six episodes based on the screenplay written by Joby Harold. Hannah Friedman and Hossein Amini have also contributed to writing few episodes in the series.


Hannah Friedman is a consulting producer on all the episodes along with Michelle Rejwan, Deborah Chow, Kathleen Kennedy, and Jason McGatlin as executive producers.
