Live-Action ‘One Piece’ Series Gets Trailer and Release Date on Netflix

Netflix has revealed the first teaser trailer and premiered date for the live-action ‘One Piece’ series. Based on the anime series and Japanese manga of the same name, ‘One Piece’ will release on August 31, 2023, on Netflix, worldwide.


The trailer gives us the first look at Iñaki Godoy as Monkey D. Luffy, An enthusiastic prospective pirate, and the rubber-skinned teenager from accidentally eating a mysterious fruit. His goal is to travel out of the East Blue with a crew of his own, find the mythical "One Piece" and become the King of the Pirates. Colton Osorio portrays a young Luffy.


The series follows rookie pirate Monkey D. Luffy, who sets out with his resilient crew on a quest to find the enigmatic One Piece treasure. Of course, his voyage isn't without bumps. Monkey D. Luffy and his crew must outrun many hazards and enemies as they quest for their wealth from islands to oceans. More information about the all-new live-action series will be disclosed later, but this stunning image teases a vibrant horizon full of boundless possibilities.


ONE PIECE stars Iñaki Godoy as D. Luffy, alongside Emily Rudd (Nami), Mackenyu Arata (Roronoa Zoro), Jacob Romero Gibson (Usopp), and Taz Skylar (Sanji). The cast also includes McKinley Belcher III, Morgan Davies, Aidan Scott, Vincent Regan, Jeff Ward, Craig Fairbrass, Chanté Grainger, Langley Kirkwood, Tamer Burjaq, Bianca Oosthuizen, Celeste Loots, Alexander Maniatis, Jandre le Roux, Ilia Isorelýs Paulino, Chioma Umeala, Grant Ross, and Steven Ward.


Below is the character description for a few members of the cast of the 8-episode series.


Mackenyu Arata as Roronoa Zoro, who is an accomplished master swordsman and bounty hunter, who uses the art of "Santoryu" aka "Three Swords Style". He aims to become the world's greatest swordsman.


Emily Rudd as Nami is an enigmatic thief who hides her past behind an aggressive indifference in search of a map to the Grand Line, where the One Piece is strongly rumored to be located. She's taken it upon herself to navigate and map out the entire world.


Jacob Romero Gibson as Usopp, a Boisterous, yet noble to a fault for his friends and allies; Usopp specializes in marksmanship, trickery, and invention. He intends to be a brave, famous warrior of the sea recognized by his infamous pirate father, Yasopp.


Taz Skylar as Sanji is an abrasive, woman-loving, yet charming master chef who is a practitioner of martial arts primarily using his legs taught to him by his mentor and head chef, Zeff. His purpose is to find All Blue, a mythical sea that connects the four seas and provides quality meals to all.
