The cast of Marvel Studios’ “Thunderbolts,” has been officially confirmed. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige announced an A-list team of cast members during Marvel’s D23 Expo panel on Saturday, confirming the return of various Marvel Superheros. Marvel also revealed the official key art for the film (see above).
The team of Thunderbolts will include Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova (returning after Hawkeye), Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes aka the Winter Soldier (coming from The Falcon and the Winter Soldier), David Harbour as Red Guardian (first appeared in Black Widow), Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (appeared in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier), Wyatt Russell as John Walker aka U.S. Agent (appeared in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier), Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster (appeared in Black Widow), and Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost (appeared in Ant-Man 2).
Valentina Allegra de Fontaine recruited U.S. Agent at the end of “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier,” and she was the one to send Yelena on a mission to kill Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye. Red Guardian has only appeared in the Black Widow movie so far, where we also saw the Taskmaster as the main villain. The most exciting part of this line-up is Ghost, who appeared in Ant-Man 2 and intrigued the fans with her performance. However, she was nowhere to be seen in any upcoming project until now.
The film was officially announced during Marvel’s Studio panel at San Diego Comic-Con in July this year, along with its 2024 release date (July 26, 2024). Jake Schreier is directing this film, with Eric Pearson attached to write the screenplay. Thunderbolts is part of MCU Phase 5.
