Thank You next is back for its third season with more doses of chaos, glamorous heartbreak, and complicated relationships. The plot continues with the story of Leyla Taylan as she continues to navigate her way through love, betrayal, and heartbreak in an attempt to move on from her past as much as she can. We can see her choices in her life are finally catching up to her, which adds more emotional weight to the overall plot. There are many emotional consequences of whatever choices she makes, which shows that her life is on a different level than what we saw before. However, some viewers might find the character of Leyla Taylan a bit annoying. On the one hand, we see her continuously saying that she deserves better, while on the other hand, we see her making some questionable decisions.
While we don’t see a total reinvention of the show, we do see that the emotional weight of the plot has been added to more. The writers have understood what dating means in the modern era, with so much uncertainty surrounding it. Through Leyla Taylan’s plot, that exhaustion is shown and portrayed well. They have approached this topic with loads of subtlety. Instead of showing us what a glamorous romance means, this time around, they have shown the result of the same. The earlier seasons focused more on the toxic relationships, etc., without showing the damage they caused. This time, we see a big change in that part.
However, even though the plot is good, we see some bummers that go against this season of Thank You, Next. For example, the pacing is so erratic. There are moments when the show gets dragged on and on for no reason. Even after making the point the makers wished to make for the show, matters don’t stop here. They continue to show it till you get highly bored. Other than that, the character development is highly lacking. I was expecting a bit more when it came to Leyla Taylan. Her character, right from season one to the present season, stays the same, more or less. At this point, since we have reached the third season, we should have gotten something better when it came to her. Even the other characters of Thank You, Next continue to remain the same and underdeveloped. You might wish to see them become better because there is some scope, yet that scope goes utterly wasted.
But visually, the show is a great watch. There are beautiful scenes that come up, which are truly a treat for the viewer’s eyes. The color palette, etc., makes the entire watching experience a great one.
Overall, I loved the fact that makers could show us some honesty when it came to dating in today’s scenarios. That works well for this season. It shows what experiencing loneliness, heartbreak, and becoming emotionally vulnerable means. All that has been shown well. For many viewers, this can be an experience that many can relate to. So if you are someone who can ignore the bad parts of this season, Thank You, Next is worth a watch.
Final Score- [7/10]
