‘Only Murders in the Building’ Season 4 Episode 5 Review - The Chase Begins

The trio is up against a group of people that cheat, control, and threaten as second nature: a Hollywood cast and crew.

TV Shows Reviews

The fifth episode of the fourth season of Only Murders in the Building begins with Bev pointing the gun at the trio. She was present in the training center Sazz built and Mabel, Oliver, and Charles too went there to find some clues. Bev didn't know the gun was loaded and fired some shots in the air. Thankfully, the gun wasn't pointed at our podcasters. She told her how Sazz had contacted her and informed her about something wrong with the movie they were making. Now the series is heading towards the direction where we'll be narrowing down the suspects and finding more clues. The trio has a lot of suspects and Charles takes it upon himself to make the people come into the limelight by using his phone to click pictures while pretending to be on call.

Marshall, the scriptwriter of the podcast film starts this episode and is the narrator in some parts. Ever since the start of his journey as a writer, he wanted to be taken seriously by people. The lad used a fake beard and mustache to have that aura of an experienced writer. This habit of his falls under imposter syndrome as he wanted people to believe he was something that he wasn't. Bev is suspiciously very calm during this whole process and I'm amazed seeing how despite receiving a call from Sazz just before her death, she still has the nerve to ask Mabel about her future endeavours. As we saw in the initial episodes the killer left some footprints behind, they'll serve as a clue to who might've done it.

Charles made a second murder board and though it may sound useless, it's the one that provided crucial clues about the timings of the kill. The whole murder had been committed within 11 minutes and it's not understandable how one would have killed Sazz from the opposite building and then disposed of the body within this time frame. After a lot of speculation, Charles concluded and that's how there might have been two people involved. So, now we've got two killers on the loose. The podcaster trio is called in for a photo shoot and the tacky mats placed by Eva Longoria give us a hint about the killer. These mats were placed so dust doesn't come into the working place but now the shoe prints will be a fine way to kick start this detective work.

In all, the series has made some progress with this episode. Though I'm not happy about the delayed action yet, this somehow calms the nerves. The writers have begun the countdown and the thrill of catching the killer is in full swing. There are just four episodes left and the podcasters need to find out who's targeting one of them. The answer to whether Sazz was the target or Charles still hasn't been provided. If Charles was the target then Mabel and Oliver are also not safe. So, buckle up for the detective work and keep your eyes open because anyone around this trio may be the killer.

Final Score – [7/10]
