The Boys season 3 is all set to introduce the satirical, violent & X-rated, "Herogasm." The announcement came from none other than the showrunner Eric Kripke himself, who shared the title page of Episode 6 script, titled "Herogasm."
"From day one, everyone dared me to make this episode. CHALLENGE MET M*TH*RF*CK*RS," said Kripke.
For all who don't know about it, Herogasm is a limited Spin-off, six-issue miniseries of The Boys universe. At first glance, it dangerously treads the line of adult content. Yet reading the first two issues further reveals several layers and sub-texts: it is not just a raunchy satire of the comics crossover and the comics industry's obsession with it; it also holds a mirror to us, comic book readers, for drooling and getting off on such events with masturbatory delight.
The stylized, cartoonish art by McCrea and Burns is never more apt here, to distance the viewer and at the same time to piledrive the idea of how utterly freaky the s*x would be if superheroes ever have the chance to go at it. Yet it is never just about the s*x alone. If you can get the pun on the name Isla McFarlane, then you can see how much of a metaphor Herogasm is for comics of today. Even for Garth Ennis's work, graphic and se*ually explicit language and content. For mature readers only.
Season 2 already saw a few characters from the Herogasm when Hughie was seen watching some of the Vought tapes with Lamplighter in Episode 7 of Season 2. However, we only caught a glimpse in the form of a video where Homebanger (the parody version of Homelander), P*rn The Deep, and Jack From Jupiter can be seen.
In season 3, we are not likely to see the whole spin-off series, but a mix of all or at least one or two chapters combined. Below is the description of what we can expect in this episode:
An evil so profound it threatens all mankind... the mightiest heroes on the planet uniting to defend us all... a secret crisis of such utter finality that a countdown to civil or infinite war seems unavoidable... but have you ever wondered what really happens during Crossovers? The Seven, Payback, Teenage Kix, Fantastico, and every other supe on Earth team up for an annual event like no other... and where the supes go, can a certain "five complications and a dog" be far behind? Vought-American prepares to make their move, in a story that will change the world of the Boys forever.
The Characters that are likely to feature in this episode includes A-Train, Butcher, Kimiko, Frenchie, Jack from Jupiter, James Stillwell, Mother's Milk, Queen Maeve, Soldier Boy, Starlight, Stormfront, Terror, The Deep, The Homelander, Vic the Veep, Hughie, Black Noir, and Crimson Countess.
Season 3 is all set to begin filming this week, we will write about it as soon as we get the official confirmation from The Boys team. The Boys season 3 will premiere in 2022 on Amazon Prime Video.
