If you are someone who likes genres such as Jurassic Park, “The Dinosaurs” is what you will like the most. The four-part documentary voiced by Morgan Freeman explores in depth the rise and fall of the once prevalent on earth, the mighty creature, the dinosaurs. For example, in the first episode, we are introduced to the plant-eating reptile named Rhynchosaur, which acts as an example of how the plant-eating reptiles died. With the evolution of trees, their survival became light. Then comes into the picture, the Platosaurus, the first kind of dinosaur that became gigantic. We are told about them in great detail. Soon, the transformation shifts to how the world around starts to collapse, which begins the end of their beginning. This also means that a great deal of focus is given to the overall evolution the earth underwent aswell. The second episode focuses on the end-Triassic mass extinction, which focuses on the evolution that the creatures underwent in order to adapt to their changing environment. Now the focus turns to the Jurassic, with Massospndylus being the center of attention. The Sauropods follow these as the big creatures that have a plant-based diet. As and when the episodes progress, the various species come in front of us. Lastly, we get to see T. rex as the final species.

All in all, as I mentioned before, the show is a good watch for those who are into Dinosaurs. Through the help of visuals, we are shown what these dinosaurs looked like when they existed back in their days. That dinosaur's visual is important for the narrative when you are giving so much information to the audience. And the dinosaur visuals are what make these shows engaging and worth watching. On the front of information, the makers have done great research and gone into depth to present to us what exactly these creatures were, their evolution, their diets, their habitats, etc. Come to think of it, such detailing is crucial when presenting a scientific documentary. In that area, the makers deserve full praise.

Morgan Freeman, as the narrator, has the perfect voice. It is amazing to hear his voice. A good amount of pauses and some dramatization; he does a great job narrating the whole series. He compliments the visuals that are presented to us by the makers. His voice feels soothing, not rushed, not dramatic, but very calming as and when he takes up the role of narration. He proves the perfect choice as the narrator of the series that requires information to be presented in a way that doesn’t feel loaded at all. And that is one of the best parts of the series; we are given so much information, but the way it is delivered doesn’t feel crumpled at all. It feels natural and gives us enough time to grasp the entire thing in one go.

So all in all, this is a visual treat of telling the stories of prehistoric creatures done right. Even if you aren’t a part of the clan that likes watching stories about dinosaurs, you can watch it to gain some information on it. The best part? It is amazing for all age groups.
