Movies Reviews

Warriors of the Future is a new sci-fi film streaming on Netflix. With a run time of one hour and forty-one minutes, the film is directed by Yuen Fai Ng starring Carina Lau, Louis Koo, Nick Cheung, and Lau Ching–Wan.

It is an action/ sci-fi film which is set in the year 2055. There have been many wars between technologically advanced nations, and an alien planet named Pandora emerges from a meteor onto the earth. Lots of people suffer and there are threats all around. A special suicide squad is responsible for saving Hong Kong as aliens have been creating havoc. The film is based on this plotline and offers a lot in terms of visual graphics.

Computer graphics have been put to maximum use in the entire film. The initial part of the film does not seem to deliver good graphic scenes but the film does catch up later on. The story of the film is decent and convincing although there are certain scenes and subplots which seem unnecessary and unreal. Although the storyline involves immense tension, the audience will be able to gather that the film has highly pulled ideas from other films with similar genres. The actors, however, have done a decent job regardless of the lacking plot. The writing and the way the story is conveyed are where the film lacks the most.

Through the film, the viewers will be able to grasp the possibilities of the future. The film has tried to provide good angles into the plotline which will make the audience think about the future of our planet. The graphic effects are good even though they will not match what Hollywood offers. Nonetheless, the film has done a decent job. The film has taken so many concepts from Hollywood films, one of them being the message about the environment the film tries to provide. The film has some good action scenes that the viewers can look forward to. The whole movie does give a video gaming vibe throughout because of the CG effects used.

Overall, the film has done a decent job. The only problem with the movie was that the writing style and the screenplay could have been better considering the fact the film was under making for a couple of years. Other than this the film has elements to entertain the audience and keep them for one and a half hours. Viewers who like genres like these will be able to enjoy this film to an extent. And even though it has taken concepts from other films, it also has provided views of its own therefore the movie has the chance of being liked by the audiences.

Final Score – [7/10]
