‘Alien: Earth’ Episode 8 Review - Power Packed Finale

Wendy takes charge of the facility and embraces her hybrid mode. What will happen to Boy Kavalier now?

TV Shows Reviews

Drum roll because the finale of Alien: Earth is here. I remember not being satisfied with the first episode, only to be proven wrong in the later stages.  And somewhere in between liking the show, the finale is here. So here’s what happens in this assumed season 1 (wink wink): the much-awaited downfall of Boy Kavalier finally took place, which gives us utmost satisfaction. Wendy, who was already on the verge of losing her temper, was the reason behind it, which Boy Kavalier never saw coming. By doing this, Wendy too realizes how powerful she is, even when compared to the humans. She frees the Lost Boys and unleashes her full power. One thing we all knew without guessing was that Wendy would be the reason to put an end to Boy Kavalier and his planning. However, the question is: is he gone for good, or will he get back? Coming to “The Eye”, as much as its attack looks disgusting, it sure adds thrill to the show. This time, in the final episode, we get to see it for a decent amount of time as it tries to take refuge in Joe. Like I mentioned, this attack doesn’t look good at all for obvious reasons (what can you expect from an alien), but at the same time, it is good enough to give you a jump scare.

Like I said, the final episode will leave you with many questions. And once you watch it, it will become clearer. Coming to the technicalities, personally, I loved how they built Wendy’s character little by little. Each episode of the show is crucial as it shows us the details with which the makers are creating her. And this is where it gets even better. Her potential is revealed to us by the end of the show. Of course, it was no surprise that she would do what she did, but the way it has been shown to us is mind-blowing. She gets the Xenomorphs to obey her, she helps the Lost Boys, and most importantly, she puts Boy Kavalier and his associates behind the bar. All this makes the show, and especially the finale, worth a great watch.

The pacing is great, and that’s what I liked about the show. Except for a few scenes, the pacing was even throughout, which made sure we didn’t get bored.  Alien dramas can get slightly monotonous, but the makers of this show gave us a great plot line and ensured that we were entertained throughout. Evidently, a season 2 can also come out, and I really hope it does so that we can get our unanswered questions answered. The acting of the cast has to be commended because even if the screen was less or more, the actors were fully convincing in their roles.  At one point, I totally forgot that Sydney Chandler, who plays Wendy, is not a hybrid in real life. Samuel Blenkin, as Boy Kavalier, displays some great sociopathic characteristics, which are also fun to watch. He is so good that you end up hating the character of Boy Kavalier. So viewers, it’s safe to say that we can pray for a next season of this power-paced show. Till that happens, enjoy the first season!

Final Score- [8/10]
