‘Fazendo Meu Filme’ (Shooting My Life's Script) Prime Video Movie Review - An Unromantic Teen Film

Based on the bestseller by Paula Pimenta, the movie follows Fani, who faces her feelings and internal conflicts after she realizes she has fallen in love with someone unexpected.

Movies Reviews

This 95-minute film gave me all the reasons why you should be vary about choosing the right romantic title to soothe your heart. The writers and makers suffered a similar confusion of making a masterpiece. To support this statement of mine, they inserted a minute-long scene of the main characters kissing with Ed Sheeran’s Perfect in the background. A song that carries so many sentiments has been inserted in the wrong project.

I don't know about the creators' delusion, but for me, the film was an eye-opener. The last 40 minutes were futile and unnecessary. I'd rather prefer the film to be an open-ended one. For me, it ended when Leo started ignoring Fani. Initially, the boy is after the girl and when he gets his due importance he does this. The writers should have included words that would have soothed the hearts of the audience. There’s another possibility that all those emotions got lost in the translation.

A superficial plot that doesn't touch the core and rather prefers wandering about it is the summary of the film. The film likes to beat around the bush and leaves us hanging waiting for us to witness a sweet and heart-touching moment.

Fani and Leo are teenagers, yet the things they say sometimes sound too mature. The reasons given in the end are pathetic and not acceptable. We don't watch a romantic film just to witness 5 minutes of romance and 90 minutes of boredom. The ratio should ideally be reversed.

Those who've watched the popular Netflix series Di4ries will notice some similarities between both projects. To state one, the leads speaking to the camera and the female lead is better than the male one.

Certain moments in this film win your heart like the one in which Fani’s mother comforts her after she fails the exams. It's how the mother says that it's not the end of the world, it soothes you and you wish that every parent should be as understanding as she is.

A question came to my mind when it was declared that Fani failed in her school examinations. In an earlier scene, her parents were heard saying that she was selected for the exchange program and was the first ranker among sixty students, how did she fail her school exams?

In all, it's not an ideal romantic film and not the one that you'll want to watch in your comfort time. We as an audience don’t expect intimate scenes to be shared by the young cast, but romance isn’t all about physical touch. It is more than that, it is about the gestures, the eye moments, the jealousy, and many beautiful moments. The film is completely devoid of that. However, it is adapted from what seems to be like a famous film, it's either that the adaptation went wrong or the book too has the same vibe.

I didn’t find the child actors putting in their all. The film was unsuccessful in depicting the emotions the leads and other characters had. And again, I’d like to ask what is romance if it is not emotions. Also, the film didn’t have any other theme to make up for the lost romance and chemistry part.

Final Score – [3/10]
