‘House of David’ Plot, Trailer, and Release Date on Prime Video

The series portrays the tragic decline of the once-great King Saul, showcasing how his own vanity drives him to make destructive choices that lead to his downfall.

Amazon revealed the trailer (watch above) and announced the premiere date for its upcoming biblical drama series, House of David a while back. The eight-episode, ‘House of David’ will be released on  February 27, 2025, on Prime Video with three episodes and one episode weekly thereafter in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.


The trailer (view it above) provides a first look at newcomer Michael Iskander as David, the future King of Israel, as he confronts Goliath (Martyn Ford) and fulfills his destiny as God’s Chosen One, anointed by the Prophet Samuel (Stephen Lang). "House of David" is brought to life by visionary filmmakers and creative leaders of the Wonder Project, Jon Erwin (known for "Jesus Revolution" and "American Underdog") and Jon Gunn (known for "Ordinary Angels").


"House of David" powerfully chronicles the remarkable journey of one of the Bible’s most iconic figures, David, who ascends to become the legendary king of Israel. This gripping series delves into the tragic unraveling of King Saul, Israel’s first ruler, who falls prey to his own pride and insecurities, leading to catastrophic consequences for his reign.

Iskander was cast as David after an extensive four-month international search. He recently finished his role in the Tony Award-winning musical, "Kimberly Akimbo." "House of David" also features Ali Suliman, known for his roles in "Jack Ryan" and "Arthur the King," as King Saul; Ayelet Zurer, recognized from "Angels and Demons" and "Man of Steel," as Queen Ahinoam and Saul's trusted wife; Stephen Lang, famous for "Avatar: The Way of Water" and "Don’t Breathe," as Samuel; and Martyn Ford, known for "Mortal Kombat 2" and "The Sandman," as Goliath.


Additional cast includes Indy Lewis (Industry, King, and Conqueror) as Mychal and Yali Topol Margalith (Tattooist of Auschwitz, A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder [2024]) as Mirab, Saul’s daughters; Ethan Kai as Jonathan (The Turkish Detective, Carnival Row 2), Saul’s son and heir apparent; Sam Otto (Snowpiercer, The State) as Eshbaal, the irreverent middle child; Oded Fehr (Star Trek, La Cocina) as Abner, Saul’s advisor; Louis Ferreira (Shogun, Breaking Bad) as Jesse, David’s father; Davood Ghadami (Eastenders, The Chelsea Detective) as Eliab, David’s eldest brother and decorated warrior in King Saul’s army; and Ashraf Barhom (Tyrant, The Last Planet) as Doeg, a mysterious Edomite, and Alexander Uloom (Sari and Amira, Heera) who plays King Achish.


The series draws its compelling foundation from the innovative vision of Jon Erwin. Joining him as executive producers are Gunn, Jonathan Lloyd Walker, Justin Rosenblatt, Chad Oakes, and Michael Frislev, all of whom contribute their expertise to elevate the project. Justin Rosenblatt also plays a vital role as the executive in charge of production for Wonder Project, ensuring quality throughout. Additionally, Dallas Jenkins, the creator, and producer-director of *The Chosen*, brings valuable insight as a shareholder and special advisor to Wonder Project, further enhancing its potential for success.
