TV Shows Reviews

One of the longest nights in the show finally ends, but not before Randall arrives at the colony house. When the previous episode ended, we were pretty sure that Randall was dead, but surprisingly even after so many injuries, he is still breathing. And to make things worse for Boyd, he remembers how he left him in the middle of the road to fend for himself against the deadly creatures.

When the night finally ends, the biggest question we all have is how Tabitha will explain her return or how the people will react to her. The fifth episode was what we all suspected. As soon as the sun rises, the town hall meeting is called and every folk wants to know how to get out of this hell hole. Tabitha appears and tells everyone about the tree with a hole or a pathway inside and the lighthouse. The town folks are agitated as to why she is not taking everyone to the tree, but Boyd tries to calm them down as going inside the tree is not as simple as everyone thinks.

When Tabitha takes Jade to the tree, Dale follows them. Dale was pretty sure if the tree was the passageway, he was getting out of this place. As soon as he jumps inside the tree, the people in the town find out someone is stuck inside a wall in the dried pool near the Diner. It was Dale, who took his final breath inside the wall leaving a warning for everyone to not even think about going inside the tree.

In this way, the fifth episode seems to have closed the door on Tabitha's storyline. She got out of town and she got back without achieving anything. The town folks also accuse her of the same thing that I think. But instead of Tabitha, I am going to put the blame on the show's writers. What was the need of adding this storyline when ultimately it's not going to be of any use?

Now after seeing this harrowing experience of Dale, I doubt even one person will try to do the same. So, it seems we have reached another dead end and so far the show has achieved no progress in finding a way out of the town. We are at the same place where we were in the pilot episode except for a few newcomers arriving and a few dying.

The episode also includes Victor's reunion with his father. They are still to know each other's story, but they finally get to hug and be emotional about it.

The way the show is progressing, it will be better if they show something actually happening sooner otherwise, people like me are likely going to be bored and may not wait for it to end. The show constantly gets compared to LOST, but that show moved forward each season with a few new elements and a lot of new discoveries. In FROM, we are still in the same town, the same diner, and the same monsters. That's not any progress.

Final Score - [6/10]
