What really stuck me about this documentary was the fact that the makers didn’t portray Sean Combs as a victim. Right from the start, they showed what went wrong while also showing his glittering career. In between, we are also shown information that tells us the crimes Sean committed and for which he has been convicted. Sean, better known as P Diddy, is one of the biggest pop artists in the field of Pop and rock. He is also one of the wealthiest artists. But behind all the success lies a man who has been convicted of the grave offenses he has committed so far. He has been held guilty and has been in prison since then. And this is what this documentary focuses on. At first, I thought this was going to be more of correcting his image. However, I was blown away by what I got to see. People come forward, and no, I am not talking about the survivors, but rather the people who have worked with him so far in his career, including his guards. They all talk about him and agree that while he was an amazing and ambitious artist, he, however, isn’t a good human. They bluntly say that one cannot expect to do bad stuff and think that nothing bad is going to happen. In addition to all this, we also get to see, from start to finish, the entire timeline of when his crime was reported and when he was found guilty.
All in all, if you happen to listen to his songs or work, you should watch this entire documentary. Yes, it is very long, but that is also because they tell us the whole story of his life. It is straightforward and blunt, and in no way do they sugarcoat the truth. So the makers are not scared to call a spade a spade. And that is what makes this documentary worth watching. It doesn’t shy away from letting out the truth. Yes, he may be one of the greatest artists of all time in the history of pop, but that doesn’t suffice to the fact that as a human he is no less than a monster.
The pacing of the documentary is even. This ensures that the whole thing moves at a pace that gives us enough time to grasp what actually has happened. And this is very important because we are given a lot of information about him. Without being given time to see and understand what happened, the entire documentary might not make sense.
Through archived footage and interviews, the entire documentary is made in a way that creates a lot of interest in us to watch it in spite of its long duration. Even if you aren’t a fan of Sean, you can still give this a watch to see the rise and fall of a star. However, the content can trigger some of us a lot. If you aren’t someone who will be comfortable watching it, I would advise you against the plot.
Final Score- [8/10]
