Perla is betrayed by her sister Antonia and decides to take revenge for it.

TV Shows Reviews

Jose Ignacio Valenzuela’s Sisters’ Feud is a chaotic whirlwind of sibling rivalry, betrayal, and dark secrets. At its core, the show centers on Perla and Antonia, two sisters bound by family ties and divided by jealousy, love, and revenge. What begins as a seemingly straightforward sibling rivalry soon morphs into an intense drama with layers of trauma, moral decay, and vengeance. The basic premise, while clear, becomes increasingly convoluted as the episode unfolds.

The story begins with a wealthy family history, deeply entrenched in crime and corruption. Antonia, the elder sister, is expected to expand the family’s empire by marrying the influential mining tycoon, Bernardo. But as is often the case in such dramatic setups, love takes a messy turn. Antonia discovers that Bernardo is having an affair with none other than her own sister, Perla. What could have simply led to a dramatic confrontation instead escalates into tragedy? The sisters' argument in the ceremonial limousine leads to a devastating accident that leaves Antonia infertile, forever altering their fates.

The show, however, doesn’t stop at just one layer of tragedy. Antonia, refusing to let go of Bernardo or the dream of having a child, devises a cruel plan. She orders Perla to carry her child through IVF. When Perla refuses, the storyline takes a dark and disturbing turn, with Antonia orchestrating a violent assault on her own sister to achieve her ends. This grotesque act of betrayal underscores the depth of Antonia’s cruelty and desperation. The show doesn’t shy away from pushing boundaries, using this incident as a pivotal moment to drive home the characters’ deteriorating moral compass.

Perla, after giving birth to Jacinta, attempts to flee but is thwarted by Antonia and Bernardo. The next four years see further psychological manipulation, as Antonia, incapable of forming a maternal bond with Jacinta, places her in an orphanage and adopts a boy named Pedro. Bernardo, to tighten his grip on Perla further, lies to her, claiming Jacinta has died, leaving Perla broken.

Fast-forward 13 years, and the psychological scars of the past manifest in Jacinta and Pedro’s troubled lives. Both children, growing up with the weight of their parents' secrets and schemes, begin to grapple with their identities, unknowingly caught in the aftermath of a feud that started long before they were born. The show cleverly uses these younger characters to reflect on the damage caused by generational trauma.

One thing is for sure: this series can be a little challenging to hold on to with 20 episodes of family drama that only gets messier with each episode. The cast does a great job of delivering commendable performances.

Sisters’ Feud does deliver an intense and gripping plot, but its attempt to pack too many dramatic elements into a short span can feel overwhelming. The rapid-fire succession of events leaves little room for character development, and the heavy themes—infertility, assault, betrayal—are at times handled with a level of insensitivity that might alienate viewers. However, for those who enjoy high-octane family drama, full of moral corruption and shocking twists, Sisters’ Feud is a guilty pleasure with just enough intrigue to keep you hooked.
