Movies Reviews

Succubus starts with an old man trying to send a confession and by the looks of it, he seems to be in big trouble. This person is none other than Dr. Zephyr who plays an important role in this movie's plot. Chris, a young dad, is facing troubles both in his personal and professional life. His wife is thinking about separating from him and on the work front, his business isn't getting any investments. Hence, the poor man is at home taking care of the baby while the wife is out with her friends. His best friend Eddie is the type who pumps people around him to do bad things. We can't blame him for that because Eddie too has faced a lot of things in his life like his ex-wife leaving him due to his low sperm count. The couple couldn't conceive and that was the reason behind their separation.

While Chris was at home, talking to his best friend he made a profile on a dating application. Eddie guides him through this process and voila, he's now on a dating app despite him being married. While learning about how this works, he comes across Adra. They instantly get close and video chat. The girl doesn't reveal her face and it was her great body that intimidated Chris to talk to her. She tells him how he was broken and is trapped by her body. These things didn't make sense initially and there were so many red flags surrounding this conversation to which Chris turned a blind eye and landed up in deep trouble. Vague things happen which embarrass Chris’s wife and mother. He was seen jerking off to Adra’s video clip through the baby monitor by his mother and wife.

After a lot of drama, Dr. Zephyr contacts Chris and asks him to not develop any contact with this girl. He doesn't heed the doctor's advice due to various press releases surrounding him about sexual assault on a girl. Chris did the math (a very poor one) and went on further to talk with Adra. He thought that Zephyr was the one who hurt Adra and thought of himself as the knight in shining armor. Chris fell right into the trap set up by Adra’s sweet face and sexy figure. She seduced him and spun a web which Chris found difficult to escape from. The scenes here are intense and you won't believe what's being shown. It's like Chris is in a different space but his body is still sitting in front of the laptop which he was using to video call Adra.

I don't want to give any spoilers but Dr. Zephyr came up with the whole explanation. It was too late to reverse the situation Chris was trapped in. Eddie too got stuck in the situation as Adra used his sensitive side to lure him too. Who was Adra and why she was doing it is revealed at the end. In my opinion, this film is filled with excessive sexual scenes, and though I understand that they were crucial for the plot, where's the plot? The concept the writers and makers tried to establish had potential however the risky ending spoiled the title.

If you judge the beginning, the middle, and the end of the film, they're good but what this combination brings onscreen is a complete disaster. By the end of the movie, I was laughing and thinking about why I watched this film in the first place. After the answers to all the questions are provided, they don't make any sense and the concept seems bizarre. Coming to acting and utilization of sets, they're good still, it doesn't compensate for the torture one will feel after completing the title. This movie doesn't qualify for a one-time watch and it's best to skip it.
