Netflix has officially renewed its sci-fi series, Supacell for a second season after its amazing run on the streamer for weeks. The cast of the show confirmed the second season via video, which was officially revealed by Netflix this Tuesday. However, that's not the only good news as the third season is also in the planning stage which would be the final season, but that might depend on how Season 2 will turn out to be.

Set in modern-day South London, the series follows a group of five ordinary black people with superhuman abilities, unified by a family history of sickle cell disease. When they suddenly obtain separate superpowers, their lives become intertwined as they must band together after being hunted by a secret organization that seeks to control them.

Season 1 of Supacell was a big hit on Netflix. It reached the No. 1 spot in Netflix’s TV series list globally and remained in the top 10 for six weeks. It was also #1 in many countries including the US and the UK. Although the show received mixed reactions from the critics as well as the audience, it remained the talking point among the fans of the superhero genre.

Series creator Rapman has already hinted at what to expect from the second season. “Supacell Season 1 is my Batman Begins. It’s a prequel of what they’ll be like. Season 2 is when you really see what they become. That future you saw at the end of the pilot in London, that exact future doesn’t exist anymore. They’ve changed everything. It’s going to be interesting when we get into the writers’ room.” Later he also adds, “I’ve always had it mapped out to Season 3. I know how Season 2 ends, I’ve got stuff planned for this story. I’ve had this in my head for years, so I’m ready to go.”  ‘Supacell’ Season 2 is reportedly set to begin filming next year. Below is the Season 2 announcement video:
