Wizard of Oz Inspired Movie, ‘Rainbow’ Trailer and Release Date on Netflix

Netflix has revealed a new trailer for the Spanish-language movie, ‘Rainbow.’ Loosely inspired by the classic novel “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz,” The coming-of-age movie, ‘Rainbow’ will release on September 30, 2022, on Netflix, worldwide.


Rainbow will be a modern-day remake of Lyman Frank Baum's classic novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, which was first published in 1900 and has since been adapted numerous times. The film will follow the journey of a modern-day Dorothy teenage girl who begins on her own journey. The film will emphasize significant components of current culture such as dance, fashion, and, most importantly, music.


Directed and written by Paco Leon, the movie stars Dora Postigo, who is portraying the new modern iteration of Dorothy. She is joined by Áyax Pedrosa (Sky High), musician-designer Wekaforé Jibril, Carmen Maura, Carmen Machi, Luis Bermejo, Samantha Hudson, Hovik Keuchkerian, Carmina Barrios, and designer-model-actor Soraya Yasmin. Javier Gullón has also written the screenplay alongside Leon.


Netflix and Telecinco Cinema are the production companies in association with Los amigos de Dorothy, Andy Joke, and Colosé Producciones.
