If you are a dog lover, this will be one of the sweetest movies you've watched in a while. The title leaves us with no surprise that the plot revolves around humans and their canine fiends. At its core are dogs and their pet parents and the bond they share in their day-to-day routine. There is no one single character that you will be witnessing in "Eat Play Bark". Instead, it is more of an episodic plot line that follows in the form of a movie. Five owners gather at a dog training center led by Nodan, the charismatic leader. All these owners aim to improve their pets' behavior, but the real question is: can they do so? The best part? This booth camp is set in the mountains. Nodan uses his unorthodox methods but soon realizes that his real students aren't the canines, but rather their owners.
There is plenty of humor and adventure involved and blended, which many pet parents can relate to. Basically, it is a glimpse of how life goes on with a pet around. Some of the most common things that one might get to notice are the chewing of shoes by dogs, the constant need for attention, etc., that will strike a chord with those who live with dogs. Also explored in Eat Play Bark are the themes of loyalty and love that pets and their owners share with each other, and how, with time, this bond only strengthens. That aspect is one of the most heartwarming ones you will get to see all in all.
Even if you aren't a dog parent, the movie is thoroughly entertaining to watch. The playfulness of the canine community shown is super cute and might even convince some of you to have a dog. The plot line is engaging because there is a chance that one might get bored watching Eat Play Bark. But that isn't the case here. The style adopted is sweet, and the adventures shown are what make the movie worth watching.
But that doesn't mean that Eat Play Bark doesn't have its issues. The problem is that the plot feels very repetitive throughout the run time. It feels never-ending at some point. If you aren't a dog parent, this can be a big bummer as you might get slightly bored at one point. At some points, the plot even feels as if it has already been aired before, since the themes work on very familiar lines. A slightly more diverse plot with more adventures would have been great if the makers had wished to cut down on the plot's repetitiveness. This goes heavily against the entire making of the movie, which at first glance feels like a super sweet one.
Other than that, the pacing is also an issue. The entire run time moves at a slower pace, which can also cause annoyance to many viewers. However, if you are ready to ignore the sluggish behavior of the storyline, Eat Play Bark can prove to be a great watch if you truly resonate with the themes. At the end of the day, it is indeed a cute story of pups and their owners portrayed to us in a sweet, simple manner. Also, don't be surprised if you end up feeling the need to adopt a dog when you finish watching it.
Final Score- [7/10]
