Marriages are made in heaven- but what about fake marriages? Are they too made in heaven? Wondering what kind of question is that- well this is precisely the plot of the show Fake Marriage. The premise follows the lives of Hiro Kamon and her ex-boyfriend Choji. First, let's get to know about Hiro. Hiro is a captivating forty-something librarian. Men charmed by her beauty and polite nature try hard to woo her, but she has no interest in them.

She once was an ardent believer in love, but after suffering heartbreaks, she is forced to become skeptical about the idea of love. This is what happened with her-Hiro was deeply in love with Choji, her boyfriend whom she met during their university days. Things go as planned and Choji left one fine day. But feelings, when true don’t die down that easily, do they? Call it the game of fate, Hiro meets Choji ( who now works at a kindergarten school)by chance igniting her feelings for him yet again. In terms of feelings, Choji, even after all these wasn’t on the same ground as Hiro. He makes a startling revelation to Choji opening up to her that he is gay.

Choji’s life has not been easy. His father died when he was a child and now his mother is suffering from cancer. She wants to see him married and settled down. For the sake of this, he proposes to Hiro out of the blue but informs her that it would just be a pretentious marriage- a fake marriage. As per Choji, this is just an act and Hiro is allowed to have boyfriends outside the marriage. For Hiro, this isn’t an easy decision to make- to have her gay ex come back to her after twenty-five years that to for a pretentious marriage. Will she agree to the proposal? Will she be able to curtail the emotions and feelings she had for Choji? Will Choji ever come to a realization regarding his feelings?

The storyline of "Fake Marriage" is notably weak and unfortunately predictable. It frequently relies on tired tropes where characters enter into a marriage of convenience and struggle with their emerging feelings for each other. Despite the actors' efforts to portray their roles convincingly, the overall execution lacks the necessary magic. At times, it feels as though the plot line has been directly lifted from a Wattpad story, diminishing its originality and impact. Choji especially appears to be the most complicated confused character who is making weird decisions. Hiro somewhere ends up being the victim all through Choji’s attempts at navigating life. A stunning beauty, her life post their breakup has become dull until he makes a re-entry. All in all, this ten-episode show fails to catch your attention throughout its run.

Final Score- [4.5/10]
