Body swap stories are nothing new in Hollywood, with classics like Freaky Friday leading the pack. But while that film took a lighthearted, comedic approach to the idea, Its What’s Inside ventures into far darker territory. Instead of humorous misunderstandings and playful identity swaps, this film explores the unsettling, psychological side of trading bodies.

"It's What’s Inside " takes the classic "friends reunited" scenario and turns it on its head, delivering a unique blend of psychological thriller and dark comedy. The plot revolves around seven close-knit college friends who gather at a stunning estate for a weekend of celebration. The occasion? The wedding of one of their own. With stunning vistas, gorgeous décor, and nostalgic memories, everything seems to be heading toward a picture-perfect event — until an unexpected guest arrives and throws them into chaos.

This uninvited eighth guest is a long-lost friend, someone who disappeared from their lives after a tragic incident at a college party many years ago. His return stirs unease, as his arrival is marked by an air of mystery and unresolved tension. In his hands, he carries a peculiar box containing an even stranger device — one that will catalyze the night’s madness.

When he proposes a Mafia-style party game using the device, it quickly becomes clear that this isn't just a fun reunion. The contraption has the power to make people trade bodies, forcing the friends into a bizarre scenario where they are no longer themselves. As the game progresses, long-buried secrets start bubbling to the surface, and the boundaries between friend and foe become blurred.

What starts as playful intrigue soon spirals into paranoia, as alliances shift and personalities clash in unexpected ways. The body's swapping mechanic provides ample opportunity for the cast to showcase their versatility, as characters grapple with the uncomfortable realities of inhabiting someone else’s skin. This adds a layer of both humor and horror — who wouldn't be unsettled by discovering their best friend's deepest insecurities or hidden resentments?

The film masterfully balances suspense with absurdity. As the night unfolds, the friends' relationships unravel at breakneck speed, making it hard to know who to trust and what to believe. The pacing ramps up to deliver twists and turns that are as thrilling as they are unsettling. There's an ever-present sense of danger — not just because of the strange device, but because of the emotional baggage each friend carries.

While the movie occasionally leans into melodrama, its sharp dialogue and strong performances keep the audience invested. The stakes feel real, not just because of the body-swapping twist, but because the underlying tension between the characters is palpable. What’s truly terrifying is not the device itself, but how it forces these friends to confront their past and face the uncomfortable truths they've long avoided.

Yes, sometimes one might get confused as to who is what when the body swaps take place. But it won't take much time to figure out who is what later on. Overall the movie is a good watch for thriller lovers.

Final Score- [7/10]
