The new thriller series on Hotstar is based on the greed of people and innocent ones getting stuck in between. Set in Somalia, the series starts by introducing Vikrant Gandhi, now a powerful figure in the nation. He was born and brought up in the country and is the president of the Port Association. He wants to rule over Somalia, and with what is shown, the possibility of him achieving his dreams is zero without bloodshed.

With the re-elections coming up, it is now time for Vikrant to play his cards, and it will be worth waiting to see the lengths to which he can go. Since not many people are in his support, it has become tougher for Vikrant to be re-elected again, and he started moving his troops.

The range of port members can be understood by the fact of how Vikrant’s cargo was checked. Till now, there wasn’t a single person who dared to go against Vikrant, and his not being a local is a major trouble for the locals. In response, Vikrant got infuriated and asked Bilal for help who in return asked the pirates to attack the ship. The freedom of lives of many people was lost at this point forward.

The ship's captain carrying Vikrant’s cargo was quite vigilant and knew how Somalian waters can be dangerous. Hence, he took many precautions in advance, like asking the people to work in shifts and checking if the ship had any malfunctions. No measures were sufficient to safeguard his ship. The hired pirates were successful in boarding the ship even though the gates were locked, and as the ship’s engine failed, the chances of people on board surviving decreased drastically.

The pirates were armed and we know who in place of the captain was now in control. They were desperately searching for the crew, but it was the captain’s intelligence that kept that hidden. We also have Vikrant’s wife and son who want his attention still, blind-sighted by his ambition he doesn’t seem to pay much attention to them.

The pirates initially didn’t want to kill anyone. We all know how such situations can easily go out of control. With two episodes out, the series has a rather slow pace, and the action is very unattractive. The amount of plots covered in these is too little to be considered substantial.

In my opinion, they've not aced the hostage situation yet. We also don't know what crucial cargo is being carried by the ship and the condition that has escalated to this point. Some amount of information about the same could have escalated the interest in the plot, but since there are a total of 8 episodes, no hope is lost. The possibility of this becoming an intense hostage situation can not be ruled out.

In all, it is a boring series that may not be worth your time. Everything seems so out of the picture, and the energy in the series isn’t also up to the mark. In such drastic times, the reactions one expects aren’t being shown. I’m also not impressed with the work done by the actors and neither the writers. The makers have missed a lot of things, and the series doesn’t go in the right direction.

Final Score – [5/10]
