Directed by Gareth Crocker and Fred Wolmarans, the film follows three people coming from different strata of society, who join hands to take what is rightfully theirs. Little did they know that their plans would include a strange twist.
In the first few minutes of the film, we get introduced to the three main characters of the film and how they are facing difficulties in their own lives. Sam, Junior, and Prince work in AMI company which deals with the mining of Zulcanoid. It is a liquid metal that is similar to mercury (except for the fact that it doesn’t cause poisoning). AMI company isn’t able to keep up with the demands of this liquid metal. Hence, the owner Melusi, adds a 50% cutting agent to the metal, raises their profits, and finally sells the company.
The new owners of AMI- are Gregory, Badrick, and Anya and they are not good people. Within a few days of their arrival, they snatched away the rights of the employees like the medical aid. Many also ended up getting fired like Sam. Now, Sam, Junior, and Prince decided to take away from the company that has always been rightfully theirs. But, in the process, they come across an unexpected twist and then face it bravely.
In my opinion, Office Invasion is a great office comedy film that also shows essential issues like how medical aid given by the companies helps the employees and their families. The movie is filled with humor, and there was just one place where I felt that the creators could have been a bit sensitive when Sam went to his office demanding the medical aid to be put back in place or he’ll go to court. The fund he got from the medical aid helped him in getting expensive drugs for his daughter, who was suffering from a serious skin disease. Sam’s boss Gregory makes fun of that and instead fires him. Otherwise, the humor is flawless and included in the right quantity.
This 112-minute-long film is very interesting. The funny scenes and lines in the film won’t make you feel bad. The three actors playing the roles of Sam, Junior, and Prince did great work and showed good coordination with each other. This is a comedy film with a sci-fi twist to it. Mixing two genres with such vast differences is a difficult job and the creators played their cards well. This comedy film directed by Gareth Crocker and Fred Wolmarans surely deserves a watch. But I couldn't help but wonder what would have happened if this film had been made into a series. For a concept and plot like this, a series would definitely be a better option.
Final Score – [7.5/10]
