Soppana Sundari starts with SGC Jewelry sending out gifts like scooters and cars to their customers who had won the lucky draw after shopping for jewelry from their store on the occasion of Akshay Tritya. Harish was given the responsibility of handing out those gifts. Initially, people thought that he is another spammer, but when he reached their doorsteps, they realized that it was the truth.

Agalya was one of the lucky people who won the first prize and a car. Her mother’s reaction was the most hilarious scene in the entire film. The woman was just expecting a mixer worth Rupees 5000 and when she saw the car, her eyes shined. Soon, they decided to give the car to the fiancee of the elder sister, Neha. However, things don’t always go smoothly as everyone’s greedy in today’s world including blood relations.

The lucky draw form Agalya filled out was thrown to her face by her brother at the store. He thought that the piece of paper was worthless and when he realized that she won the car, he was at the gate to claim his reward. A fight breaks and we see the women of the household fighting with the son of the house, his wife, and brother-in-law. From utensils to red chilies, everything was used to protect the lucky draw gift. There’s another twist, the car has a dead body, and it is standing at the police station. When Neha went with her fiancee, he was trying her to drive the car. She was so madly in love with him that she didn’t concentrate on the road and hit a man. So, the fight intensified as the car has to be claimed safely.

Like every household has a member who separated from the family after getting married, the film has the same element. We can see the man being influenced by his wife and claiming all the money. When they left the house, they even took mugs with them. Soppana Sundari looks like the story of every Indian household but, to make it a worthy film, it lacked many elements.

In my opinion, Soppana Sundari’s 115-minute plot will be clear in the first 20 minutes. Hence, you don’t need to watch the entire film to know what’s gonna happen in it. It's all about family chaos and a fight over the car which the woman won in the lottery. It is an exaggerated drama that’ll soon bore the audience and they’d want to skip it. Although there were no expectations from Soppana Sundari, it still fell short of what little I had of it.

The Telugu film tries its best to entertain the audience. The fact that I watched it in Hindi might be the reason why the pun was poorly translated. There was a lot of humor but somehow, it failed to completely engage the audience. Had the film been polished, it might’ve been one of the most entertaining ones.

Aishwarya Rajesh plays the role of Agalya and she didn’t leave any stone unturned for her role, but the plot acted as a barrier. She was good in the role but had the story been enchanting, her efforts could’ve proven successful. The only thing good in Soppana Sundari is the performance of the cast and the part that needed work was the translation and the plot.

Final Score – [4/10]
