HBO has revealed the preview teaser for the fifth episode of its post-apocalyptic series while confirming that it will premiere two days early than the regular schedule. ‘The Last of Us’ Episode 5 will release on FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 10 at 9:00 p.m. ET/6:00 p.m. PT on HBO and HBO Max. In India, it will release on Saturday, 8:30 AM IST.

The fourth episode premiered this Sunday and was perfect to set up a big mid-season episode, which may change the direction of the series. In this episode, we see Joel and Ellie traveling through Missouri on their way to Wyoming as they take a shortcut through the ruins of Kansas City, but they get ambushed by hunters. They kill two of them while they let go of the third injured one, who runs back to the Hunters led by Kathleen (Melanie Lynskey).

Kathleen is a ruthless and passionate leader hellbent on revenge and punishing those responsible for a loved one's death at the hands of FEDRA. The hunters are a massive organization, a close-knit community that deeply feels when a member of their community is killed and turns lethal when seeking retribution for it. In episode 4, Kathleen is looking for a man named Henry as she orders a manhunt. Perry, Kathleen's second-in-command, discovers evidence of an infected burrowing into the city, but Kathleen orders him to keep it hidden until they find Henry.

At the end of Episode 4, we see Henry and his brother Sam holding Joel and Ellie at a gunpoint, they realize after waking up. The fifth episode is likely to delve into the relationship of both duos as they calculate the trust between them. The preview (watch above) shows Kathleen is not leaving Henry to go unpunished as she declares Kansas City free. It also teases Kathleen facing Joel and Ellie as an infected giant turns up.

The early release of the episode will certainly make sure that the excitement built by the fourth episode doesn't fade away. In a more simple way, the fifth episode can also be said as the extension of the fourth episode.

The last of Us stars Pedro Pascal as Joel, Bella Ramsey as Ellie, Nico Parker as Sarah, Gabriel Luna as Tommy, Anna Torv as Tess, Murray Bartlett as Frank, Nick Offerman as Bill, Melanie Lynskey as Kathleen, Jeffrey Pierce as Perry, Storm Reid as Riley, Merle Dandridge as Marlene, Lamar Johnson as Henry, Keivonn Woodard as Sam, Graham Greene as Marlon, and Elaine Miles as Florence.

“The Last of Us” series is created by Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann, who are also executive producers alongside Carolyn Strauss, Evan Wells, Asad Qizilbash, and Carter Swan. PlayStation Productions, Word Games, The Mighty Mint, Sony Pictures, and Naughty Dog are the producers of the series.
