A new Star Wars film has been announced, and this time it will be a follow-up to a TV Show. Disney has confirmed ‘The Mandalorian & Grogu’ Movie directed by Jon Favreau, and produced by Favreau, Kathleen Kennedy, and Dave Filoni, is all set to go into production this year.

Disney also confirms that ‘The Mandalorian & Grogu’ will be like any other Star Wars film and will hit the theaters. As per the press release, The Mandalorian & Grogu will be the first film in the new Star Wars slate, so we can safely assume that The Mandalorian & Grogu will hit the theaters sometime in 2025 or early 2026.

The Mandalorian & Grogu will lead Lucasfilm's ongoing feature-development Star Wars slate, including films helmed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, James Mangold, and Dave Filoni, who is also currently involved in the development of Ahsoka Season 2, among those currently in the works.

I have loved telling stories set in the rich world that George Lucas created,” said Jon Favreau, who is all set to helm this film. “The prospect of bringing the Mandalorian and his apprentice Grogu to the big screen is extremely exciting.”

"Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni have ushered into Star Wars two new and beloved characters, and this new story is a perfect fit for the big screen," added Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm.

Does this mean, it is the end of the journey for The Mandalorian as a Disney+ Series? No, actually there is no official confirmation on the fate of the series as of now. There is a possibility that the show will return with the fourth season and could pick up the story of the newly announced film, but if ‘The Mandalorian & Grogu’ becomes a box office success, then we might have a sequel film and that could potentially mark third season of the Mandalorian as its final season. But for now, it is safe to assume that the fourth season of The Mandalorian is on hold.

At the end of The Mandalorian Season 3, Mando and Grogu embark on a new mission as independent contractors, defending the Outer Rim from Imperial remnants with the New Republic.
