Thrishanku is synonymous with Ready Steady Run! The film begins and ends with animations that depict the relationship shared by this couple and everything happening around them. The animated portrayal was good. We are taken to the present day where Megha’s father is pressurizing her to get married. Her father is Sub Inspector and a single dad which means it won’t be easy for her to elope. She loves Sethu but the boy doesn’t have a stable career and they belong to different religions. These two things make their union difficult. A foolproof plan is made for them to elope and get married. Even the cell phones were left at home so that Megha’s father can’t trace the couple.

There’s one little twist which is Sethu’s sister Sumi ran away on the same day to get married to her stoner boyfriend Alex. Megha was waiting for Sethu at the bus stand when all hell broke loose and the plan starts to fail. A series of events start in which Sethu instead of going with Megha has to go with his two uncles to bring Sumi back. Well, our Megha was no less and she followed the boy wherever he went and also faked to be Sumi’s friend. Though Franko and Sethu’s grandfather had small screen time, they still nailed their part with great comedy scenes. Sethu has to be the first boy in history who eloped with a girl along with his two uncles.

There are two couples shown in the film and they’re opposite to each other. The first couple is Sethu and Megha and the second couple is Alex and Sumi. While one pair was madly and intensely in love with each other, the second one was a total flop show. Alex was mainly behind Sumi’s money and we know that because he was a stoner and once Sumi lost the cash she stole, his attitude towards her became cold. The boy abandoned her and this made me hate Alex as the poor girl left her family for him. Talking about our sweet and dedicated Megha, she even crossed the state borders to be with Sethu. Even when she suspected that he might not be coming with her, she still followed him. Megha has shined in this story and she is the hero of Thrishanku. Although she had no hopes for her and Alex, she still helped him and his two uncles to search for Sumi.

Anna Ben as Megha is the star of this story. I would also like to compliment her eyes which speak more than a thousand words. Arjun Ashokan as Sethu is our Majnu. He too wants to be with his lover desperately. When their epic plan fails, a series of events unfold which make the audience laugh and appreciate their love for each other. In my opinion, Thrishanku is a very good movie. This Malayalam film is great if you are looking for something funny to watch on a weekend night. Well, this was my watch this weekend and I enjoyed it. To support this statement, first of all, there are no cringe dialogues or unnecessary scenes. The makers were very clear about what they wanted to show on screen.

There’s a scene in Thrishanku in which Sethu’s uncles wanted to get entry into a club. As they were elderly and didn’t know how to enter the premises, they observed Sethu and Megha who were holding hands. On top of that these two uncles were wearing matching t-shirts on which soulmates was written. The official of the club understood them to be a gay couple due to the matching t-shirts and their holding hands. It was a funny scene. Also, the scene at the Police Station has to be among the best ones. Humor in this film is very good which doesn’t let this Thrishanku fail. The movie’s ending is also praiseworthy.

Final Score – [7.5/10]
