Netflix has officially renewed the Korean-language horror-thriller series, Hellbound for a second season. The confirmation came during the TUDUM, the Netflix Global Fan event. The first season was released on November 19, 2021, on Netflix.

Season 2 of Hellbound will delve further into exploring the themes of mortality, sin, and justice with greater scale and depth. Netflix also revealed a teaser for the second season that you can watch above.

Season 2 will be directed by Yeon Sang-ho (Train to Busan and Peninsula) and co-written by Choi Gyu-seok (creator of celebrated webtoon Songgot). Tudum unveiled a re-enactment of Season 1's cliffhanger ending, in which protagonist Park Jung-ja, one of the first victims consigned to hell, is resurrected. This interesting season finale twist was followed by the brief but spine-tingling official Season 2 announcement: "All Hell Breaks Loose Again."

Based on the legendary webtoon The Hellbound by Yeon Sang-ho and Choi Gyu-seok, Hellbound tells the story of supernatural beings that emerge out of nowhere to make a decree and condemn people to hell. These supernatural occurrences wreak havoc and allow the religious cult The New Truth to grow in power. However, a few people grow suspicious of its operations and begin looking into its role in mysterious happenings.

In the first season, Yoo Ah-in portrays Jeong Jin-su, the charismatic and mysterious head of the New Truth Church. Park Jeong-min plays Bae Yeong-jae, a producer at a broadcasting company that investigates the New Truth Church. Kim Hyun-joo is playing Min Hye-jin, a smart and self-assured lawyer. Won Jin-ah is playing Hong Ji-yeong who is the wife of Bae Yeong-jae, and a member of the New Truth Church. Yang Ik-june is portraying Jin Gyeong-hun, a police detective who investigates the unsettling appearance of the death angels.

Wow Point and Climax Studio will produce the series along with Midnight Studio as co-producer.
