Lionsgate has revealed a new trailer for “John Wick” Chapter 4, which shows Keanu Reeves fighting through streets, deserts, and many more places. Distributed by Lionsgate, “John Wick 4” will release on March 24, 2023, in theaters, worldwide.
The trailer reveals Keanu Reeves back in action as he faces the wrath of assassins hunting him. It begins with former assassin John Wick training his knuckles for a big fight, as it moves to show some glimpse of neck-breaking and blood-spilling action.
The plot for the fourth action-packed movie in the franchise is still kept under wraps. The only information about the plot is the tagline revealed during the announcement of the movie "You have served. You will be of service." The trailer revealed at SDCC also has a weird description, "Text 310-564-8005 for classified updates." Unlike the previous John Wick movies, this one will also feature locations outside New York City including Japan, Germany, and France.
The film sees the return of Laurence Fishburne, Lance Reddick, and Ian McShane as Winston, the manager of the Continental Hotel. Rina Sawayama is the female lead in this movie. Donnie Yen, Hiroyuki Sanada, Bill Skarsgård, Scott Adkins, Shamier Anderson, and Clancy Brown also stars in the film. The above trailer clip teases Skarsgård, Sanada, and Donnie as villains in the film.
Chad Stahelski has directed the movie from a script written by Michael Finch and Shay Hatten based on the characters by Derek Kolstad. Basil Iwanyk, Erica Lee, and Stahelski are producing, with Reeves and Louise Rosner as executive producers. Summit Entertainment and Thunder Road Pictures are the two other production companies along with Lionsgate, the lead distributor of the John Wick franchise.
All the John Wick films have been very successful at the box office, with each doing better than their predecessors. The first film in the series made around $88 million at the box office, with the follow-up movie, making around $171 million worldwide. The last film was the biggest success which made $326 million at the box office worldwide. All three have made around $587 from a combined budget of $140 million.
John Wick 5 has already been announced and the spinoff series titled, "The Continental" has also completed production. The spin-off movie, "Ballerina," recently began production with Ana de Armas in the lead and Keanu Reeves is also set to appear.
