Lucasfilm Reportedly Wants Keanu Reeves in Star Wars

Keanu Reeves fans cast him in almost every big franchise from Marvel to DC, and their wish might soon come true as he seems to be heading towards a Galaxy far, far away.

As per industry insider Jeff Sneider, Lucasfilm is very interested in casting Keanu Reeves in a major role in the Star Wars universe after the previous talks to play Master Sol in the recently premiered Star Wars series, The Acolyte, failed due to his busy schedule. We can also say that Keanu probably dodged a bullet as The Acolyte has already been canceled after its first season received mixed reactions.

There are currently eight Star Wars films in active development and one currently in production. Lando and Rogue Squadron are standalone films like The Mandalorian & Grogu which recently began filming. However, there is no confirmation whether the rest of the upcoming films will be part of any new series or they will be all standalone films. Rian Johnson is also developing a new Star Wars trilogy.

An untitled Star Wars film set to be directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy will focus on Rey Skywalker's new Jedi Order and is set fifteen years after Star Wars: Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker. Two other untitled films are currently set to release back-to-back on December 18, 2026, and December 17, 2027.

If Keanu Reeves is joining Star Wars, which character is he likely to play and in which film? Looking at Keanu's schedule, we can probably guess which film would be the best possibility for him to get cast. Currently, he is filming a dark comedy film, Outcome, and is rumored for John Wick: Chapter 5. The untitled Star Wars films with release dates are expected to go into production early next year, so, we can rule them out. So, if I have to guess, he is likely to be cast in the new trilogy, as anything less would be a waste of talent.

Keanu Reeves made his film debut in 1985 and became popular with the 1989 movie, Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure. He went on to make several big films and became extremely popular and an icon with The Matrix which spawned a trilogy. Reeves continued his success story by adding many hit films to his filmography, and in 2014 with John Wick, he again became an icon. John Wick spawned several sequels all led by Reeves. John Wick 5 is currently rumored to be in development with Keanu Reeves set to return.
