Disney has revealed the first teaser trailer for its upcoming series adaptation ‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians’ during D23 Expo this Saturday. The series which is currently in production is likely to release sometime in late 2023 on Disney+.

The teaser gives us the first look at Walker Scobell’s titular character, Percy, who is walking through the half-blood camp and everyone seem to be staring at him. "Look, I didn't want to be a half-blood, but being a half-blood is dangerous, it's scary, most of the time, it gets you killed," says a voice at the beginning of the trailer. "If you think you might be one of us, my advice is, turn away while you still can. Believe whatever lie your mom or dad told you about your birth, try to live a normal life because once you know what you are, they'll sense it too, and they'll come for you. Don't say, I didn't warn you."

The series will focus on the titular 12-year-old boy, who discovers that he is the son of the Greek god Poseidon and begins training to become a hero at Camp Half-Blood, a special training camp for demigods.

Apart from Scobell, the series stars Leah Sava Jeffries as Annabeth Chase and Aryan Simhadri as Grover Underwood in the lead roles. The cast of the series also includes Virginia Kull as Percy’s mom Sally, Glynn Turman as mythological centaur Chiron, Jason Mantzoukas as Greek god of wine Dionysus, Megan Mullally as the Fury Alecto, Olivea Morton as Nancy Bobofit, Timm Sharp as Percy’s stepfather Gabe, Dior Goodjohn as Clarisse La Rue, who is described as a daughter of the Greek god Ares, the god of war, and Charlie Bushnell as Luke Castellan, son of the god Hermes and head counselor of the Hermes cabin.

Rick Riordan and Jonathan E. Steinberg have written the screenplay based on Riordan's novel series “Percy Jackson and the Olympians.” Steinberg and Dan Shotz serve as executive producers alongside James Bobin, Rick Riordan, Bert Salke, Jim Rowe, Rebecca Riordan, Monica Owusu-Breen, and Gotham Group’s Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, Jeremy Bell, D.J. Goldberg. 20th Television and Walt Disney Studios are the studios behind the series.

Directors for the series are Anders Engstrom, Jet Wilkinson, and James Bobin, who is directing the pilot of the series. The production will take almost eight months to shoot the 8-episode season one, and is currently set to wrap on January 25, 2023.
