After getting renewed for Season 2 just days after the first season's finale, the sophomore season of ‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians’ is moving forward at a steady pace. Series creator Rick Riordan has already confirmed that casting for the second season is in progress, now we can also reveal when Season 2 of the Disney+ series will begin filming and when it will finish.

‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians’ Season 2 will begin filming on August 1, 2024, in Vancouver, British Columbia, and is expected to take six months to officially wrap up on January 30, 2025. The second season is taking a bit shorter duration than the first season, but that might be because the same sets from the first season are likely to be reused.

Despite the shorter filming duration, the post-production will likely take the same amount of time for the 8-episode second season. If we compare it with the first season, we can predict that ‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians’ Season 2 is likely to be released sometime later in Fall 2025 on Disney+.

The core cast of the series which includes Walker Scobell as Percy Jackson, Leah Sava Jeffries as Annabeth Chase, and Aryan Simhadri as Grover Underwood have been confirmed to return for the second season. The returning faces also include Charlie Bushnell as Luke Castellan and Dior Goodjohn as Clarisse La Rue. For the second season, Albert Kim has been announced as a new executive producer. Kim worked on the first season of Netflix's live-action series, Avatar: The Last Airbender.

Disney and Rick Riordan have already confirmed that the 8-episode second season will be based on the second book of the series, The Sea of Monsters. In his latest blog, Rick also confirms that the writer's room is currently in progress and half of the second season scripts are finished. The set design and creature artwork are also in progress and as per Rick, they look incredible. In the end, Rick confirmed that casting has just begun and he will share more about it once the actors are finalized. Candice Elzinga is the casting director.

The first season focussed on a 12-year-old boy, Percy, who discovers that he is the son of the Greek god Poseidon and begins training to become a hero at Camp Half-Blood, a special training camp for demigods.

In the final episode of the first season, Percy travels to Olympus atop the Empire State Building and returns the Bolt to Zeus, who intends to resume his war. When Zeus is ready to attack Percy, Poseidon surrenders, and the two agree to notify the council of Kronos' threat. After Poseidon returns him to Camp Half-Blood, Percy realizes and accuses Luke of being the thief since Luke handed him the cursed shoes. After confirming Percy's suspicions and failing to recruit him, Luke fights him. However, Annabeth shows herself after hearing everything, and Luke escapes. On the final day of camp, Percy goes to reconcile with Sally, Annabeth leaves to reconnect with her family, and Grover departs to search the oceans for Pan. The group plans to rejoin in a year. Kronos tells Percy in a dream that he is essential to his return. In a mid-credits scene, Gabe tries to call a lawyer to aid with his divorce from Sally when he discovers that the apartment's lock has changed. When he opens a returned parcel containing Medusa's head, he becomes terrified.

The second season which will be based on the Sea of Monsters, continues the adventures of thirteen-year-old demigod Percy Jackson and his friends as they rescue Grover, a satyr, from the Cyclops Polyphemus and save Camp Half-Blood from a Titan attack by bringing the Golden Fleece to cure Thalia's poisonous pine tree.
