The Apartment Job follows the life of Park Hae-gang, a former boss whose life takes a dramatic turn. In order to save someone he always thought of as a family, he sets his sights on stealing a big long-term repair fund belonging to an apartment complex. What starts as a simple heist soon turns into something larger, leading to an expose of corruption that goes far beyond the kissing money.
When you read the story of The Apartment Job, it might come across as a simple plot of stealing and corruption. However, when you start watching, you do realize that the plot is much more than what the eyes see. The plot is filled with twists and turns that are enough to boggle your mind and keep you hooked on the show. As of now, only one episode has come out, but it has generated enough interest to wait for the next set of episodes.
The strongest asset of the lot remains the acting. JiSung's portrayal of a boss who manages to balance out toughness with vulnerability. He gives us the desired emotions and pauses that his character needs. As a result, one feels like watching the actor on screen. Even Ha Yoon-kyung is no less when it comes to displaying his role. He complements the role of Ji Sung. Playing an aspiring lawyer, whose work has been reduced to part-time work, we see the struggles and pain in his acting. For many, such a role proves to be quite relatable. This is when you know that both the actors have indeed succeeded in their acting.
Even the rest of the cast does a commendable job. One can understand the gravity of their roles with just the first episode that has come out as of now. The makers waste no time in introducing us to the characters, which gives you an idea of what each of their roles is going to be and what importance they hold. Moreover, if you want to watch something funny, then The Apartment Job has a touch of funniness too. The show manages to balance suspense and fun in equal parts, making sure that you will love what you are watching and will continue watching whatever you are shown.
The show slightly falters in facing. Sometimes it rushes, while sometimes it slows down. That is one downside. However, with just one episode out, this might be too early to think about and form judgments. The best thing is to wait and watch where the next episodes head. I am also hoping that the supporting story lines develop well because that was another lack I found in the show.
Overall, The Apartment Job is a good watch. It manages to keep you hooked right from the minute the episode aired. And that is enough of a hint that the rest of the show will continue to be built on suspense and comedy. Let's hope for the best.
