This show introduces viewers to the world of fugitive and international crime. What’s even more interesting is that the plot is based on real-life Mexican Police operations. We follow the journey of the International Liaison Unit also called as "The Gringo Hunters". Leading them is Nico, played by Harold Torres, and Gloria, played by Mayra Hermosillo. Along with them are Archi, played by Andrew Leland Rogers, Beto, played by Manuel Masalva, and tech wizard Cri, played by Héctor Kotsifakis. All these characters contribute to the team’s diverse approach to impart justice.
The show starts with a big manhunt: an American who is accused of multiple murders is on the run and is hiding in Mexico. The US government is pressuring the unit to find and return him. The team is now on this mission and navigates through the city and landscapes to find him. Ultimately, they win, and the American fugitive is caught and sent back. A bystander meanwhile captures their video which makes them famous worldwide and they ultimately get the title “The Gringo Hunters”. This angers their commander, Temo, as he has a simple rule of doing things quietly.
The best part about the series is that each episode offers something new and intriguing. What sets it apart is the fact that, as mentioned before, these events have taken place in real life. Moving forward with another plot is where Gloria and Nico have been given the responsibility of pursuing another American woman who has trained her dog to maul her abusive boyfriend fatally. As the investigation moves ahead, Gloria discovers that the boyfriend had actually exploited the woman’s younger daughter. In an attempt, Gloaria befriends the elder daughter. However, Gloria ends up getting kidnapped. She had promised the elder daughter revenge. Will she succeed in her mission? Temo on the other hand, has information that can shake anyone. Another fugitive is claiming to have information that many powerful people would kill to obtain. We witness how Temo’s relationship with his long-time friend and boss Ortega is tested as he strives hard to protect the fugitive and a notebook that has the information. Will he also succeed?
Now, while episodes may feel like a cat and mouse chase, it is not that. It’s a smart plotline dealing with politics, murders, and a lot more in a very tactful manner. With good pacing and punchy dialogue, it keeps us intrigued right from the start to the end. We also witness some really powerful and strong performances throughout the show, especially from actors Hermosillo and Torres. Its social themes and character-driven plot serve what we expect right at the start of the week. For action lovers and those who love real-life plots, this show delivers just what you are looking for.
Final Score- [8/10]
