All the Places is a Netflix film released on February 14th, 2023. On valentine’s day, Netflix decided to give us a movie about two siblings and their bond, which might seem quite unusual but it just reminds us that valentines day is for all bonds wrapped around love. The film is directed by Pitipol Ybarra and written by Adriana Pelusi. It has a run time of about 1 hour and 37 minutes.

The film is about two siblings who haven’t seen each other for 15 years. Fernando and Gabo (Gabriela) reunite at their father’s funeral after so many years. Even though initially Gabo puts on a cold shoulder at her brother, the two slowly start reminiscing about their memorable childhood as they spend a night at their parent’s house. As they walk down memory lane with the help of their childhood stuff, they not only repair their relationship with one another but also give us heart-warming moments of self-discovery, and connection. The film beautifully shows the relationship/bond between siblings.

The film stars Mauricio Ochmann, Ana Serradilla, David Chocarro, and many others. Even though the film does not bring anything new to the table, it certainly has aced in showing the love-hate relationship siblings tend to have. Fernando and Gabo lose one of their loved ones which becomes a pathway for them to regain their lost connection with each other. When they meet after these many years, they slowly get reminded of their promises to each other during their childhood. One such promise/childhood dream of theirs was to go on a motorcycle road trip through Mexico. This leads us to witness the adventurous part of the film. The film is heartfelt and has both comedy and adventurous elements.

Even though their life was reconnected, the siblings do not find a smooth road ahead of them. As they try to fulfill their childhood dream, they are bombarded with various obstacles which makes us realize how much effort is required to maintain relationships or even happiness with/among each other. The film has a smooth pace throughout. Not only does it have an easy plotline, but it also makes events seem too easily flowing. Everything that happens in their lives seems too natural but at the same time, out of the blue, but the difference is close to nil that the audience will only enjoy the film without any issues.

The comedy elements in the movie are not that great but it does not affect the watching experience. But the emotional bond that the two siblings share is something that might highly interest the audience because the film has been able to bring this side very beautifully. The film can be considered half adventurous and half emotional. Even though it claims to have the comedy genre, it does not deliver much, therefore adventure and emotional elements can be considered as the film’s main genres in which it has excelled. The places that the film ends up showing because of the adventurous trip that Fernando and Gabo take are utterly beautiful and the cinematography also played a major part in delivering the beauty of all the places.

Overall, All the Places is a wonderful film to watch with your siblings or friends. It reminds us of the sweetness of childhood, a beautiful connection between siblings, and gives us a peek into the scenic beauties of Mexico. This film is a great watch for siblings particularly and it reminds you to shower your extra love on each other.

Final Score – [8/10]
