Netflix has revealed the first full-length trailer (Watch above) for the second season of the hit German series Barbarians. The six-episode ‘Barbarians’ Season 2 will release on October 21, 2022, on Netflix.

Season 2 picks up a year after the Varus Battle, with the Roman troops returning to Germania stronger than ever, and Ari confronted with his Roman background once more. His brother has joined the Roman side to punish Ari for betraying Rome. While Thusnelda and Ari, who seeks to become king of all the tribes, join forces to unite the tribes against Rome, Folkwin ominously challenges the gods.

Created by Arne Nolting & Jan-Martin Scharf and Andreas Heckmann, the series is set during the battle of the Teutoburg Forest in 9 AD that halted the spread of the Roman Empire.

Netflix has also revealed a few first-look images and a poster for Season 2. Take a look below:

The cast of the series includes Laurence Rupp as Arminius, Jeanne Goursaud as Thusnelda, David Schütter as Folkwin Wolfspeer, Bernhard Schütz as Segestes, Nicki von Tempelhoff as Segimer, Ronald Zehrfeld as Berulf, Eva Verena Müller as Irmina, Nikolai Kinski as Pelagios, Daniel Donskoy, and more.

The first season takes place in the later half of AD 9 during the Roman occupation of Magna Germania (the territory between the Rhine and the Elbe rivers). Several Germanic tribes band together to take on the nearly unstoppable Roman legions in a legendary battle: the battle in the Teutoburg Forest will change European history. Three childhood friends who are tied by a tragic fate are at the core of this brutal battle. They become the decisive force in the battle against the overwhelming Roman might. Her path is marked by devotion and betrayal, love and hate - and ultimately proves to be a dramatic test of three young people's friendship.

The first season ended with Arminius leading Varus and three Roman legions into the Teutoburg Forest, and into history. Thusnelda made a bloody sacrifice to preserve the alliance.

Jan Martin Scharf and Arne Nolting acted as showrunners and together with Andreas Heckmann as scriptwriters. In the staging by Barbara Eder and Steve St. Leger, Jeanne Goursaud, Laurence Rupp, and David Schütter inspire in the leading roles. "Barbarians" was the first German Netflix original from Gaumont, represented by producers Sabine de Mardt, Andreas Bareiss, and Rainer Marquass.
