BEEF Season 1 began when two strangers' lives intersected following a road rage incident. Danny Cho (Yeun) is a failed contractor with a chip on his shoulder, whereas Amy Lau (Wong) is a self-made businesswoman with a glamorous existence. Throughout the 10-episode series, their animosity consumes them, intertwining their lives and relationships in more ways than one.
In the final episode of the season, Amy and Danny, who have been injured in a car accident, assault each other but are trapped without a cell phone connection. Amy compels Danny to scavenge for food at gunpoint, resulting in the consumption of toxic berries. They both grow ill and dehydrated and fearing they are dying, they confide in one other and come to terms with their own grief. They survive and make their way back to the city. As they get to safety, Amy falls and Danny rushes to assist her, but George emerges and shoots Danny. Amy waits at Danny's hospital bed. Amy cuddles Danny on the hospital bed as he is unconscious. Days pass, and Danny returns her hug.
