Chutney Sambar is a series about how your perceptions regarding a person can change over time. It also showed us how sambar and chutney are so different in making but when given their right place, they lead to a mouth-watering dish. I liked how they mixed serious themes with comedy. In my previous reviews too, I have emphasized how mixing these two genres can lead to a horrible result but when done right it'll produce good results, like we've seen in this web series. With just six episodes, the show stands strong and will be liked by those who're in to watch some light titles.

The series starts with introducing the audience to Amudha restaurant situated in Ooty which is known for its delicious sambar. Many known celebrities visit there and the essence the sambar contains is a secret as the owners don't reveal its recipe. The reporter covering this place also takes us on a tour of the owner's home. Just when she was at the dining table with the family, the owner suffered from a medical condition. It's later revealed that he has pancreatic cancer and doesn't have many days left. Karthik, the eldest son of the household is called by his father (the owner of the restaurant) and he narrates his last wish to his son which is about his illegitimate child. While the father was in Chennai in his youth, he fell in love with a woman and after many years he discovered that they had a son together.

Karthik is assigned the task of finding his brother and getting him to their father. The man is a good son and is willing to do anything for the well-being of his family. Tagging along with Peter (the driver) and his brother-in-law, he goes to Chennai from Ooty just to find his brother. There, they kidnap Sachin (the illegitimate child) and bring him back. Now, the way he's been kidnapped is hilarious. On the pretext of drinking English liquor together, he's drugged and carried against his will. Upon arriving in Ooty, Sachin takes part in their father's last rites but when the family gets to know about his true relationship, there's a lot of drama. It isn't a lot as all the things have been included in moderation.

Sachin slowly starts gaining trust and there are some other subplots also included. Once the man who wasn't accepted by the family was now out, mending the relations of the same family. Despite staying away from the family, he had a great upbringing which is reflected in his acts. Take for example the kid who peed in a bucket, especially in front of people consuming food. Sachin's tactics taught him to pee in the toilet. What else he does you'll discover in the show.

In all, Chutney Sambar is a great family show and you mustn't miss it. There are a lot of takeaway messages hidden in the story. It's an absolute treat to watch the beauty of Ooty and the people living in it. The lush green beauty will mesmerize you. With great dialogue, acting, and plot the series is here to win hearts.

Final Score – [7.5/10]
