Copenhagen Cowboy is a 6-part Netflix series that was released this week. The series follows a dark theme with revenge, crime, and thriller as its genres. It stars Angela Bundalovic, Lola Corfixen and Zlatko Buric. The additional cast includes Andreas Lykke Jørgensen, Jason Hendil Forssell, Li li Zhang, Dragana Milutinovic, Mikael Bertelsen, Mads Brügger, and many others.  Each episode has an average run time of 46-56 minutes.

Copenhagen Cowboy follows the story of Miu, a young woman desperate to take revenge on everyone who destroyed her life. Miu was being sold to different people as a good luck charm and was exposed to extreme slavery in this process. She finally decides to break free from all this chaos as she travels through Copenhagen’s criminal underworld.

The show is visually stunning with repetitive elements and concepts. The series does promise to give us some good concepts but most of them are either not fully explored or are repeated too many times making this 6-part series exhausting for the viewers. The show follows a dark theme throughout with red and blue light tinges which are again common among thriller shows/movies.

Even though the series has a good potential story, the pace at which the story is being delivered is too slow. The powers Miu has and her revenge is one of the main elements of this film. But due to the slow pace, one of the main elements only solidifies towards the last episode and the audience might lose interest by the time the main events start happening. Along with this, most of the ideas used in the series are underdeveloped and not dwelled into as much as needed.

Of course, the film revolves around mystery and thriller genres therefore the audience can nonetheless expect those elements. But the issue with the series is that it runs at a low pace and takes its own time to reveal the secrets and mysteries. The show might be a good watch for someone who can put up with the slow steps the series takes toward the story.

Miu’s character is quite peculiar considering that she is the main lead. She does speak much or doesn’t express anything. The entire story is happening around our stone-faced protagonist. Her character almost remains the same without many developments through half of the series until we get to see some engagement. Even though her character can be a bit exhausting to watch, the actress has done a pleasantly fair job in portraying the bland character who takes on the whole story without much talking or any internal dialogue!

The series overall is just an average watch in terms of the pace with which it delivers the story. The story has good potential, but certain areas can bring in a draggy vibe to the entire series which actually might spoil what the show and its makers wanted to achieve. The show is not everyone’s cup of tea but give it a try if you are someone who is okay with shows which has an extremely slow pace.

Final Score – [7.5/10]
