When Eric Kripke first announced the Herogasm episode to be part of The Boys season 3 in January this year, everyone thought he must be joking or the episode must be completely different from what was in the comics. But now, The Boys showrunner himself has confirmed that the Herogasm episode they filmed is no different from the comics and has even more insane scenes similar to an X-Rated movie (soft-porn).
According to Kripke, if the version they have filmed makes it to the final cut, it would probably make "The Boys" upcoming season X-Rated, he also confirms to self-censor the episode to make it to the final cut suitable for Amazon audiences. But not to disappoint the fans, he later says, "If you like the books and that specific volume of 'Herogasm,' I can assure you that you'll receive the entire 'Herogasm' experience. There is simply no doubt."
“I mean, those dailies are insane,” Kripke said. “Like, if we showed all we shot, we would undoubtedly be rated X. I'm still trying to wrap my brain around what we've filmed.” Herogasm, which will be the sixth episode in season 3 is written by Jessica Chou.
Herogasm is a six-issue limited spin-off miniseries from The Boys world. At first glance, it appears to be perilously close to pornography. In this episode, Homelander and the other supes from The Seven leave Earth under the pretense of fighting an alien menace from outer space. Instead, the gang travels to an island resort where "Herogasm," a weekend of sex and drugs, is taking place. Butcher, Hughie, and The Boys team attend the event in order to delve up some dirt on Vought.
It is yet to be confirmed who all are the other supes to feature in the Herogasm event beside Homelander, Crimson Countess, and Soldier Boy. In the same interview with the Wrap, Kripke also revealed how amazon executives reacted when he pitched the idea of Herogasm. “When I first presented it, I guess I said, 'Guys, here's the episode, and it's called 'Herogasm.' And I suppose there was a sigh of resignation from Andie Green, Katie Graves, and the rest of the Amazon execs. They appear to be resigned.” “They say, 'Look, you've really proven yourself over the last two years.' It was only a matter of time, we knew.' It was similar to my son earning his driver's license if it's going to happen, I'll just have to wrap my head around it and go along for the ride. As a result, they've agreed to let us do it.”
The Boys season 3 is currently filming in Toronto, the shooting on Herogasm episode recently wrapped after it began filming in mid-June. Season 3 recently added Sean Patrick Flanery, who will be playing Gunpowder, Miles Gaston Villanueva, as Supersonic, Laurie Holden as Crimson Countess, and Nick Wechsler as Blue Hawk.
