First Look Photos From Netflix Film ‘The Trial of the Chicago 7’

Netflix has posted a first look of its upcoming movie ‘The Trial of the Chicago 7,’ which stars Fantastic Beast’s Eddie Redmayne and The Matrix 4’s Yahya Abdul-Mateen II.

 

Directed and scripted by Oscar and Emmy winner Aaron Sorkin, The film tells the story of 7 activists who were charged with conspiracy and inciting to riot by the US government after protests broke out during the 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago, Illinois.

 

The first pictures (which you can see below) show the likes of fellow stars Sacha Baron Cohen, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Mark Rylance in character, as well as director and writer Aaron Sorkin working on set.

 


The cast includes Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Sacha Baron Cohen, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Michael Keaton, Frank Langella,John Carroll Lynch, Eddie Redmayne, Mark Rylance, Alex Sharp, Jeremy Strong, Noah Robbins, Danny Flahery, Ben Skenkman, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Caitlin Fitzgerald, Alice Kremelberg, John Doman, J.C. MacKenzie, Damien Young, Wayne Duvall, and C.J. Wilson

 

Abdul-Mateen II, who has also played Cal Abar in HBO's Watchmen, plays defendant Bobby Seale in the movie, while Redmayne takes on the role of fellow defendant Tom Hayden.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt who is playing Richard Schultz in the film can be seen in the upcoming sci-fi film ‘Project Power’ with Jamie Foxx which will arrive 14th August on Netflix.

 

The Trial of the Chicago 7 will be released at Netflix globally on October 16.

 

Paramount, which first had distribution rights to the movie, was eyeing a fall platform release, initially with a limited debut of September 25, then an expansion on October 9 and a full wide release of October 16. Due to exhibition’s shutdown during COVID-19, Paramount sold the feature to Netflix.

 

Marc Platt, Stuart Besser, Matt Jackson and Tyler Thompson are producers. Executive producers are Laurie MacDonald, Walter Parkes, Marc Butan, Anthony Katagas, James Rodenhouse, Shivani Rawat, Kristie Macosko Krieger and Nia Vazirani.
