Paramount Pictures has revealed the first trailer for the upcoming Scream movie. Directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, the film returns with the iconic character of Ghostface. Scream 5 will hit the theaters on January 14, 2022.

The trailer begins with Tara (Jenna Ortega), who is terrified after getting a weird phone call and says, "this isn't funny amber". The voice on the phone call replies, "when do you like to play a game tara?" The trailer moves further with Ghostface attacking Tara with a Knife. Later, we also see Neve Campbell returning as Sydney Prescott, who says, "I'm Sydney Prescott, of course, I have a gun."

In the film, a new killer has worn the Ghostface mask and started targeting a group of adolescents to unearth secrets from the town's grim past twenty-five years after a series of brutal murders stunned the calm village of Woodsboro.

Returning to their iconic roles in Scream are Neve Campbell as Sidney Prescott, Courteney Cox as Gale Weathers, and David Arquette as Dewey Riley. The cast also includes Dylan Minnette, Jenna Ortega, Melissa Barrera, Jack Quaid, Kyle Gallner, Mason Gooding, Mikey Madison, Marley Shelton, Jasmin Savoy Brown, and Sonia Ammar.

Scream is directed by Matthew Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett with James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick penning the script. Creator Kevin Williamson and Chad Villella have executive produced with Project X Entertainment’s Vanderbilt, Paul Neinstein, and William Sherak serving as producers.

The first "Scream," which was released in 1996, was a box office triumph, and the film has since spawned three sequels, the most recent of which was released in 2011. Overall, the series has earned more than $600 million.
