Amazon has revealed its films and shows list which will be released this Summer on Prime Video. However, big names are absent from this list which includes the second season of The Wheel of Time and Invincible.
Amazon generally reveals its big shows and films in a group. Citadel and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel are the last shows of the Spring 2023 which will finish their run on May 26. Similarly, the Summer of 2023 will begin with Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan Season 4 on June 30 and will be followed by the premiere of The Horror of Dolores Roach on July 7, The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 2 on July 14, and Good Omens Season 2 on July 28. However, this list might have space for one more show if all the episodes of Good Omens Season 2 are dropping on the same day.
While revealing the first teaser of Invincible Season 2 back in January this year, Amazon confirmed that the second season will release later this year disappointing the fans and without giving us any specifics about when. There is no doubt the show is popular and Amazon is taking its time so that it doesn't disappoint anyone in terms of quality. The fact is Amazon has also not hinted that it will premiere early this Fall, so it might move to late November or December.
So far, Amazon has confirmed only one show that will release this fall, which is The Boys spinoff, Gen V. By the end of next month or in July, we are likely to know all the popular and big titles that will be coming early this Fall. This list will certainly include The Wheel of Time Season 2 and probably Invincible Season 2. Upload Season 3 is also expected to premiere in late 2023.
If we go by the data available right now, we can expect ‘Invincible Season 2 to release sometime in November or December 2023. Personally, I don't think Amazon will push it to next year as they have confirmed it to be ready to premiere this year only.
‘Invincible’ Season 2 and Season 3 are being produced simultaneously, which will lead to time-saving and a smaller gap between the release of both seasons. Voice recordings were reportedly completed last year for both seasons, however, the animation development for the third season will still take some time. But yes, the time difference between Invincible Season 2 and 3 premiere won't be almost 3 years like the first and second seasons.
The teaser for Invincible Season 2 that you can watch at the bottom, confirms that the quality of animation has improved as compared to the first season. The amount of time the production is taking is likely to advance it further, which means the wait might be longer but the results won't be disappointing.
Much of the main cast of Invincible Season 1 will return for the second season. This includes Steven Yeun, Sandra Oh (Nora Grayson), Zazie Beetz (Amber Bennett), Gillian Jacobs (Atom Eve), and Zachary Quinto (Robot) as all of their characters play important roles in the comic's story going forward. Also likely to return are guest actors like Seth Rogen (Allen the Alien), and Mahershala Ali (Titan). All of them become bigger parts of the story as the series goes on. J.K. Simmons might not initially appear as Omni-Man in the next season, as he was last seen flying off into deep space, but that doesn't mean he won't be part of it as it has been confirmed that he will return.
The first season finale also hinted at other potential story beats for the second season. The Sequids storyline, which didn't get a proper ending in season 1, should be continued. We know that a Martian infiltrated Earth after swapping places with one of the human astronauts. In addition, the astronaut who was left behind on Mars is now under the control of the Sequids, which could spell disaster for Earth if this parasitic race sets its sights on the blue planet.
