Horror Story movies are always a go-to genre all the time. When someone is into horror movies then that person will always enjoy horror content, which is why the recently released movie is the new talk of the town.

Filipino movies are good, but the language can be a big barrier for those who haven't seen them. As I have seen other Filipino movies, I didn't feel weird watching it, but as for Mallari, the movie is not up to the mark. The movie is 2 hours long and it was a big mess the whole time.

Knowing the fact that it is based on a true story, I expected it to be extremely scary and interesting. But it was more like a funny movie, like there was no scary moment in particular, and the story was extremely boring as well as messy at the same time that I ended up laughing at the whole thing. Well, it was not exactly that bad, but the movie could have been a lot better if they had shortened the length of the movie.

But if we see it overall, the movie deserves to be seen at least once. The main reason why one should watch this is that it is truly based on a true story. The movie gives an insight into Father Saverino Mallari who was a priest during the 19th century when the Philippines was ruled by Spanish people.

The movie is not only about Saverino Mallari but also about the three generations of the Mallari Family. It gives an idea of Juan Saverino in 1821, then Johnrey in 1948, and at the end, Jonathan in 2023. What made me invested in this series is that part that the character of Saverino Mallari is based on a real character, but apart from that, everything is fictional. It was also a great idea to portray the roles of Johnrey and Jonathan as travelers who could go back and forth in time.

What was messy about the storyline is that I found it dragged and messy, on top of that I was very bored while watching it even though at some point it was still grabbing my attention, but slowly I started to lose it. Another interesting thing is that Saverino Mallari is known as a serial killer, but at that time this particular term was not used to describe him. He used to kill people in hoping that his mother would live longer.

The movie is based on the true story of the documented serial killer which is Saverino Mallari, this is the main reason that made me watch the movie and that kept me till the end apart from these, it didn't make me feel like “Wow! This is so freaking good and I need more of it”.

If you are interested in learning about the character of Saverino then this movie is perfect for you, but if you are someone who wants pure horror movies then this isn't for you.

Final Score- [5/10]
