The audience following the Spanish drama series Elite knows very well that the writers have a standard format on which all the seasons are based. Those who're new to the show, they've missed a lot and this can't be watched as a standalone. I'm all in for dramas and fickle romances however, it's repetitions that bore me. Throughout eight seasons, the show has introduced several new characters yet, I still find a resemblance with the characters of the older seasons.

There's not much change in the scripts and it usually begins with a party going on and someone being murdered in it. The same happens in eight seasons of Elite (which is also the last installment). Joel is seen lying naked, covered in blood at the party attended by all the Las Encinas students. Now, what happened and why he was killed is shown in further episodes.

The kid was a partial scholarship student and in the seventh season, we saw him involved with Ivan. There's a new sibling duo at Las Encinas and it looks like they're here to give a final shake to Las Encinas. The Krawietz siblings, Emilia and Hector are self-absorbed pricks who don't care about what others think. They're also the head of the alumni association and are here to recruit students into the same. For this, they'll take several tests that aren't there to check your worth but your desperation. By this, it means how desperate you are to lick the feet of Emilia and Hector (and not just feet).

Apart from this enrollment, we also have a full-fledged drama involving Carmen (Chloe and Ivan’s mother). She killed Raul and after committing a crime, one cannot expect to get out of it without any consequences. Well, many things are different in the lives of the rich and this show is based on the same concept. Chloe also gets involved in her mother's fiasco. She's involved with multiple partners and at one point in time, I found it hard to remember where one relationship started and the other ended or the reason behind her switching partners. Chloe herself has no clue and is just a puppet acting on her mother's commands. If the poor girl herself has no idea then why will the audience bother?

Coming to other characters, Omar is seen suffering a lot at the hands of the new riches. Isadora is also going through different phases involving her bank statement and her parents. Her friendship flourishes but her personal life is equally doomed. I enjoyed watching all the characters grow and tackling problems yet, I wasn't amused as it wasn't something new. It's the same format and the only thing worth watching was Joel and his expeditions which let him be killed. No doubt he was a hot mess and everyone wanted a piece of him still, the mistake he committed was not listening to Omar (why is he always right?).

In all, my take on the series is controversial. I did like the story and how it was built and led up to murder except for the part where I knew that it wasn't something new. The series in itself is engaging and you won't be able to resist clicking on the next episode option although there's a thing in your mind saying that you've watched it before. I wanted to see the lengths to which the characters would go to achieve what they wanted. Till the fifth episode, the series was delightful. It's after that that the writers were trying to fix the errors in the lives of the elites. The ending of the show is a decent one and I don't think that a better one would have existed.

Final Score – [6.5/10]
