Netflix ‘Medusa’ Season 2 Review - Bárbara Is Back, and So Is the Danger

Bárbara Hidalgo is back after surviving the explosion that was supposed to kill her (which we saw in season 1). However, her survival has created another problem for those who wanted to take control of her company. She and Detective Danger Carmelo have tried their best to distance themselves from the Hidalgo family’s issues, but an attack on Cristian forces them to return to Barranquilla. Once she returns,  Bárbara takes control of the Medusa business empire again. Doing so puts her back in the middle of the family’s power struggle. There are different members of the Hidalgo family who wish to have control of the company, with Bárbara trying to hold on to her position. Meanwhile, Danger continues his investigation of the mysterious “Demonio Hidalgo”. This is also something that the makers left from season 1. From what is shown to us, it is understood that there is another connected threat that the family is not yet exposed to. With all this happening, Esteban Arco also gets out of prison. He also wants to rebuild the fortune and gain the status he lost, which inevitably puts him back into a feud with Bárbara. The question is, will Bárbara be safe this time too? Will her luck help her or will her empire fall with her?

I must admit, season 2 of Medusa was way more gripping when compared to the first one. The plot has been developed so well, with so many twists and turns that you are on your toes as the show progresses. You can’t even anticipate what will happen, and boom! Something takes place that will blow your mind.

In such times, it is also noteworthy how well Bárbara’s character has been written. She is bold and powerful even when the world around her is crumbling so much. Together with Danger, she tries her best to save what is hers. That is the kind of character one loves to watch on screen. While the danger to her life still persists, what matters is how she manages to dodge a bullet again. Will her survival be guaranteed? You might find yourself asking these questions but not find a definite answer easily because that is how Medusa Season 2 has been created.

Another great thing about season 2 is how the makers chose not to drag the plot one bit. In twelve episodes, the makers wrap up the plot, ensuring that we don’t get bored much. And honestly saying when you actually watch the show, not once will you feel that any scene has been dragged for no reason. Everything has been created very thoughtfully, and that is what makes Medusa such a good watch.

Coming to the pacing, if you have read how the makers have not stretched the plot, you can already figure out that the pacing is fine as well. Shows like these must have definite pacing because if they rush or slow down anywhere, the fun will all be gone. But thankfully the makers have ensured that we don’t suffer. If you are someone who has watched Medusa season 1, I recommend watching season 2 to see where Bárbara is headed and how fate stays with her.
