Netflix has released the first trailer for the highly anticipated series “Paranormal”, available on the 5th of November. The highly anticipated series is based on the best-selling thriller novel series with the same name “Paranormal” by the late Ahmed Khaled Tawfik.
Refaat Ismail’s journey of doubt will be presented in a series of six episodes, each centered around one of the famous urban legends in the “Paranormal” books. Every episode is a standalone story, but all are interconnected through one common, recurring element in the first season: The Khadrawy House.
“Paranormal” will be released in 190 countries around the world and available in over 32 languages. It will also be dubbed into 9 different languages including English, Spanish, French, Turkish, German, etc. “Paranormal” will also be the first Egyptian Original show that will have audio and written descriptions for disabled individuals.
The series tackles Dr. Refaat, a cynical Hematologist with a dark sense of humor, who goes through a “journey of doubt” as his world is turned upside down after his lifelong scientific convictions are questioned. The plot commences in 1969, as Refaat Ismail enters his 40s, and begins to experience a series of paranormal activities. Throughout the season, Refaat is accompanied by his university colleague, Maggie, as they enter the paranormal world and try to save their loved ones from the immense danger that surrounds them. The story is based on the best-selling thriller novel series with the same name “Paranormal” by the late Ahmed Khaled Tawfik, which sold more than 15 million copies. Staying true to the books, Paranormal, is filmed in Egypt, reflecting Netflix’s commitment to creating authentic Egyptian content for global audiences to enjoy.
Refaat Ismail is the main character of Paranormal. He’s a cynical Hematologist with a sharp temper and distinctive physique. He’s messy, gloomy, and nihilist with an absolute carelessness towards the world. He’s unable to express his feelings, which is why he only ever loved one woman, his college mate Maggie, a love that he never confessed. During the show, he faces a series of supernatural events and tries to unravel them to convince himself -being a man of science- that the Paranormal world does not exist.
Created and written by Amr Salama, based on the best-selling thriller novel series by Dr. Ahmed Khalid Tawfik, the series stars Ahmed Amin, Razane Jammal, Ahmed Dash, and Ayah Samaha. Amr Salama also serves as executive producer along with Mohamed Hefzy.
