Sophie (Missy Peregrym) and her fiancé Nolan (Damon Runyan) have retreated to a secluded cabin deep in the woods, hoping for a peaceful getaway from their hectic lives. Little do they know, their escape is about to turn into a nightmare. Joining them for the weekend is Kyle (Joris Jarsky), Sophie’s childhood friend. He’s come not only to catch up on old memories but also to share his knowledge of the wilderness with Nolan, who’s writing an article about hunting and survival. Kyle, rugged and seasoned in the outdoors, eagerly offers to guide Nolan through the rugged terrain and teach him the skills necessary for living off the land.

Sophie, though once an expert in the ways of the wild, has largely abandoned that part of her life. She now prefers the comforts of her modern lifestyle, far removed from the bloodshed and roughness of her past. Kyle, however, is more than eager to revive those memories. Beneath his friendly demeanor, it’s clear that his feelings for Sophie run deeper than mere friendship, and a sense of unspoken tension brews between him and Nolan. Nolan, though more refined and inexperienced, feels his masculinity being undermined by Kyle’s dominance in this rugged environment.

The next morning, the two men set out on a hunting trip, Kyle eager to prove his prowess and Nolan determined not to be outdone. But what begins as a simple venture into the woods soon spirals into a dark, dangerous game. Hours pass, and only one man returns to the cabin—bloodied, shaken, and unsure if the other is even alive. What happened out there in the wilderness? As the mystery unfolds, it becomes chillingly apparent that Sophie’s skills in the hunt aren’t as dormant as they seemed. She may have left the wilderness behind, but the instincts that once made her a master of the wild are far from gone. And in this deadly triangle, the true predator may not be who anyone expected.

One thing I was absolutely certain about was the presence of a love triangle—and I was spot on. From the very beginning, the dynamics between the characters hinted at something deeper bubbling beneath the surface, and it didn’t take long for those suspicions to be confirmed. The tension is palpable, simmering just below the surface, as unspoken emotions and unresolved histories come crashing into the present. You can feel it in the way glances linger just a little too long, in the way casual conversations take on a sharper edge, and in how every interaction seems to carry a weight that none of them are willing to acknowledge. It’s inevitable, really—the perfect setup for a love triangle that’s bound to get messy, with feelings complicating every decision and turning the most innocent of moments into a battlefield of emotions.

From a cinematic standpoint, the movie is nearly flawless. The way it sets up the atmosphere from the very first scene pulls you in immediately, making it well worth the watch. The initial setup is gripping, immersing you in the serene yet eerie wilderness, where every rustle of leaves and creak of wood builds an underlying sense of unease. The director masterfully uses wide, sweeping shots of the vast forest landscape to emphasize both the beauty and the isolation of the setting, making you feel both awed and unsettled.

Final Score- [7/10]
