Netflix has revealed the first trailer (watch above) and a premiere date for the South African Series, ‘The Brave Ones.’ The supernatural drama thriller, The Brave Ones, will release on September 16, 2022, on Netflix, worldwide.
Created by renowned film director, writer, and actor Akin Omotoso, the enthralling six-episode series takes place in parallel worlds of modern-day South Africa and the supernatural world of African gods and heavenly beings. The series tells the story of Ntsiki, a normal village girl who realizes she is a mystical being with special abilities who must use them to protect the community and avenge her sister's murder.
Ntsiki Gasa (Sthandile Nkosi) is a supernatural being resurrected as a human who seeks vengeance for the murder of her sister. Ntsiki, on the other hand, meets a formidable enemy in Ayanda Mbatha (Nomalanga Nkosi), the cruel wife of an equally heartless land-grabbing property developer, Luthando Mbatha (Tony Kgoroge), who has her own compelling motives for abusing The Brave Ones' powers. Ntsiki must learn to use and harness her superpowers in order to fight her strong opponents and save her family from annihilation. Yule Masiteng plays Ndyebo and delivers a powerful act as the all-knowing elder.
The Brave Ones stars Sthandile Nkosi, Keke Mphuthi, Nomalanga Nkosi, Bonko Khoza, Tony Kgoroge, Zamani Mbatha, Pheello Kotelo, Sthandiwe Kgoroge, Yule Masiteng, Anelisa Phewa, Otto Nobela, and Lindani Nkosi.
Alongside being the creator, Akin Omotoso also serves as an executive producer with Robbie Thorpe, and Stan Joseph. Omotoso also directs a few episodes in the series along with Rolie Nikiwe, Tosh Gitonga, and Stephina Zwane.
Ochre Media is the production company behind the series along with Netflix.
