If you are someone who loves watching courtroom drama, political corruption, murder mystery, and social commentary, The Evil Lawyer is just what you need to see right away. The plot revolves around Mek, a young lawyer who believes deeply in justice and the rule of law. His life changes for the worse when he is framed for the murder of a police chief's son. Abandoned and betrayed by the very system he once trusted, Mek allies with infamous attorney Jittri, who is known for exploiting legal loopholes and defending clients who appear guilty but aren't.

The kind of relationship these two share is peculiar. Mek is an idealistic person, whereas Jittri has shades of grey. She firmly believes that the system is unequal and abuses power. As Mek investigates the conspiracy behind his arrest, the story goes into a dark mode where judges are exposed, migrant workers are exploited, and police misconduct is exposed. These are the silent villains of the story. The question is, will Jittri be able to help Mek? Will Mek get the justice?

The main highlights of The Evil Lawyer are the performance of the show. Nat Kitcharit as Mek does a commendable job. His role transformation from a principled lawyer to a rule breaker, though unwilling, is an engaging watch. On the other hand, Rhatha Phongam is a great treat to the eyes as clever Jittri. Though she starts as a villain, it is only as things progress that we get to see the various layers of the character. I personally found her role to be more intriguing than that of Mek. The character finds loopholes in the systems, which also makes you wonder so many things. It is definitely a well-written character for sure.

Another good thing about the show is how well the legal proceedings have been shown. Not once do they feel boring or dragged. The makers have managed to keep it crispy and interesting. For those of you who aren't a part of the legal fraternity or haven't studied that, the scenes shown will provide you with clarity as they are presented in a very layman's language.
The only issue with The Evil Lawyer is that the tone becomes slightly uneven. With so many different themes involved in it, there is confusion that comes up when watching. For some viewers, it can be too much to watch at one go. You might even struggle to grasp the concepts when watching the initial episodes.

The pacing is good enough to keep you interested. That was another good thing about The Evil Lawyer. Things move at a normal pace, even though there are different themes that are involved. Shows like these should indeed move at a normal pace because viewers need time to understand. At the same time, if it becomes too fast, then it also gets difficult to understand the plot. So this is where the makers have indeed done a great job in keeping you hooked. So, as mentioned earlier, if you are someone who loves watching shows with mixed genres, The Evil Lawyer is an amazing watch.

Final Score- [8/10]
