Netflix has revealed the release date and a new trailer for the Korean-language action-adventure movie, The Pirates: The Last Royal Treasure. The #1 theatrical release of 2022 in South Korea will release on March 2 on Netflix, worldwide.

The film follows Woo Moo-chi (Kang Ha-neul), the self-proclaimed leader of the Goryeo Dynasty, and Hae-rang (Han Hyo-joo), the owner of a pirate ship who calmed the sea. Although they are destined to be together on the same ship, they continue their voyage without wind, bumping into the mountains and seas, from birth to the poles. Then, one day, they discover that the royal treasure that has disappeared without a trace is hidden somewhere, and they set out on a perilous adventure in search of the greatest treasure that will never happen again in a pirate's life. But they weren't the only ones looking for the missing treasure! The rebel Bu Heung-soo (Kwon Sang-woo), who does everything he can to get what he wants, also jumps into the sea to claim the treasure...!

Directed by Kim Jeong-hoon based on a screenplay written by Chun Sung-il, the film stars Kang Ha-neul as Woo Moo-chi, Han Hyo-joo as Hae-rang, Lee Kwang-soo as Mak-yi, Kwon Sang-woo as Bu Heung-soo, Chae Soo-bin as Hae-geum, Oh Se-hun as Han-goong, Kim Sung-oh as Kang-seop, Park Ji-hwan as Akwi, and Park Hoon as Mangcho.

On January 26, 2022, The Pirates: The Last Royal Treasure was released in IMAX format, coinciding with the Korean New Year holiday. On the box office, it became the first Korean film to reach one million viewers on the 11th day of its release in 2022. With a gross of US$10.27 million and 1.28 million attendance, it now ranks first among all Korean films released in 2022.
